An 8-0 lead was too small for the Rochester pitchers to work with as Buffalo got six in the 5th and four in the 7th to clip the Red Wings, 10-8. José Ureña didn’t make it through five innings, giving up the aforementioned six runs on eight hits and four walks while somehow striking out five. Jose Ferrer got the dreaded blown-save-loss as he was charged with four runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks in 2/3rds of an inning. All eight Rochester runs came in the top of the 5th, with Travis Blankenhorn hitting a two-run shot and Franklin Barreto delivering an Earl Weaver special. Four Red Wings went 2-for-4, with Richie Martin adding a double and two stolen bases. Roster moves: OF Franmil Reyes, C Luis Torrens assigned from Washington (MLFAs); IF Wilson Garcia released.

Michael Cuevas didn’t make it out of the 4th as he was charged with both SeaWolves runs on three hits and five walks. Garvin Alston picked up the win with three scoreless innings while Jack Sinclair worked around three walks in the 8th and 9th innings to get the save in his AA debut. Kyle Luckham pitched six full innings for the third straight outing but gave up four runs on nine hits (one HR). He walked none and struck out four. The loss went to Dannel Diaz who walked three and retired two in the 7th, with Todd Peterson letting in the deciding run while getting out of the inning, then two of his own in the next. Three Fireflies pitchers combined to shut out the FredNats for the first time this season, 3-0 on three hits. Jarlin Susana threw for four innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and two walks while getting five whiffs. Brady House, Armando Cruz, and Sammy Infante each had a single while House stole two bases and Cruz was caught twice. Fredericksburg had just two runners reach second base (House and Cortland Lawson following the fourth of five walks in the bottom of the 8th) and left on five baserunners.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing Franmil Reyes in Washington: too many strikeouts and too little defense. My how the mighty have fallen with him. I like Torrens as catcher depth. If they won’t play Riley Adams day game after a night game maybe they need an option in case they are thinking about sending him down. What a collapse by Rochester! Ferrer is getting farther and farther away from DC.
Adios , Garcia ! Sounds like a 1960s spaghetti western
Let’s see what Cornelio can do tonight .
Like find his spots .
Susana was hardly sharp but with his stuff there are not a lot of long at bats. went to three balls A LOT, a more patient opponent might have had more base runners. but he’s barely 19, he’s barely 19…
the Torrens signing is a good one but if they are planning to demote Riley I’d have thought Plawecki showed enough to merit the backup role
is the clock ever gonna strike midnight for Millas? until we know Pineda’s status speculation on how much longer he stays at City Isle is difficult. the Eastern League is still good competition, let him rake as long as he’s successful and no harm done
In Harrisburg, pitcher Tyler Beck also made his debut. In 2/3 of an inning, he walked two and threw FOUR wild pitches. It was good to see Sinclair get his first save and Antuna have a couple big hits.
Time to play that hit Beck song
Dark humor
Don Rickles style
Beck’s 4 wild pitches tied a Sens record.
I’d be curious to know what lead them to sign this 27 yr old with merely a sniff of coffee in AAA
arms, arms, arms!
Wilmington is well-represented (pitchers’ park?). Per baseball reference all the Blue Rocks listed here are 23-25 years old.

Clarification on Willingham – 19k’s, 3bb and 17th round 2019. Sinclair also mentioned earlier, was 17th round in 2021.
Alvarez, Saenz and Knowles are all repeating at Wilmington (as was Sinclair). Think it’s time for a promotion. Bennett can then replace Saenz’s rotation spot.
Bennet hopefully hopscotches over Saenz up the ladder
