The Red Wings scored in five of eight “ups,” including four-spots in the 3rd and 8th innings as they outslugged the (ugh) Woo Sox, 12-7. Paolo Espino gave up four runs on three homers and seven hits total over five and a 1/3rd innings to get the Jack Morris win. He walked one and struck out six. Cody Wilson homered twice, including a grand slam as he drove in six and scored three runs to lead Rochester’s ten-hit parade.

Three homers within the first 11 batters faced was the undoing of Alex Troop and Harrisburg fell to Bowie, 11-2 in Game Three. The 26-y.o. southpaw also gave up a triple and a double and five runs total over three innings while losing for the second time. The BaySox also had their way with Malvin Peña (4R) and Odalvi Javier (2R) before Evan Lee settled things down with two scoreless innings. Trey Harris and Leonel Valera both singled twice and drove in a run as the Senators managed eight hits and four walks while leaving 11 runners on base.

The Blue Rocks outhit the Cyclones 8-5 but fell short in the run column, 2-1. Dustin Saenz turned in his second straight quality start, giving up the first Brooklyn run on three hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six. Tyler Schoff let in the deciding run on two hits with two out in the 9th to wear the “L,” his first of ’23. Caleb Farmer’s HR in the 7th broke up the shutout. In the 8th, Jordy Barley doubled and was sacrificed to 3rd but Jacob Young’s flyout to RF was apparently not deep enough to plate the run. Wilmington went down in order in the 9th.

Fredericksburg fell short of its second chance to win three in a row as Carolina took the one-run contest, 4-3. Riley Cornelio threw 12 strikes to 10 batters, as he issued five walks over two innings while somehow only giving up one run. The loss went to Luke Young, who gave up three runs on six hits (one HR) over three innings. He walked one and struck out two. Branden Boisserie singled in one while Cortland Lawson doubled in two as the FredNats were held to six hits and four walks, with Daylen Lile and Brenner Cox the only two batters to reach base twice.
