The Red Wings dropped their third straight decision to open the ’23 season with a 5-0 shutout by the S-Mets. Paolo Espino got the start and took the loss as he gave up a run on two hits and a walk while striking out three. The Rochester offense amassed a grand total of three (3) hits – two singles by Darren Baker and a double by Yadiel Hernández – and drew five walks. They left on six baserunners and were 0-for-3 with RISP.
Roster moves: C Kevin Plawecki assigned from Washington (MLFA); C Francisco Arcia transferred to the Development List.

  1. Here is the Senators roster that was handed out at last night’s welcome back dinner. Pitchers – Alston, Cate, Carillo, Cuevas, Guash, Kilome, Lee, Parker, Peguero, Pena, Ribalta, Romero, Rutledge, Schaller, Troop and Willingham.
    Catchers – Lindsly, Millas and Gonzales.
    Infielders – Arruda, Cluff, Frizzell, Meregildo, Sanchez and Valera.
    Outfielders – Antuna, Connell, Harris and Upshaw.

    2. The wow I see on the AA roster is Frizzell skipping A+.

      In a sense, Rutledge is also skipping A+, since he spent all of last season at A after not succeeding at A+ in 2021. The Nats really need for this to work. Color me skeptical.

    3. thought we would see Theophile here but not disappointing to let him regain a little confidence repeating A+. his results there were not awe inspiring

      I still like Jose Sanchez though he faded badly last year.

        It’s a long season I bet Hanrahan sees 3 to five arms off Wilmington 22 staff by June

        1. will be interesting to see Parker’s season. though Joel was never a control specialist when he got his BB/9 under three he was an all-star

  4. Cronin’s outing was mostly off speed pitches and not particularly sharp. they were playing in ski masks I’ll wait to see what he’s got once real baseball weather arrives. the few times he got his fastball up where he likes it he got some swings and misses.
