Darren Baker Born: 2/11/99 Ht. 6′ Wt. 180 Bats: L Throws: R Career Stats |
Baker was a pleasant surprise in ’22, starting at High-A and finishing at AA with a brief stint in the AFL before he reportedly suffered an injury. Baker actually hit better at AA than A+ (.717 OPS vs. .701), though below the league average at both levels and with little power (.365 SLG). He’s likely to return to Harrisburg to start 2023. | ||
Armando Cruz Born: 1/16/04 Ht. 5’10” Wt. 160 Bats: R Throws: R Career Stats |
A ’22 “DSL Guy” and the Nats’ big-ticket IFA in ’21, Cruz made it stateside with 52 games in the FCL and a cup of coffee in Low-A (3G). Despite his reputation as a defensive whiz, he committed seven more errors in seven more games from ’21 to ’22. Perhaps worse: He drew three fewer walks. He’ll have to improve on both if he’s to make it Delaware before he turns 20. |
