Bryan Polanco went the first four innings and let in two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out three. Ramon Cuevas got the win with two perfect innings. Misael Mojica tripled twice and walked once while Winder Diaz walked twice and tripled once to lead the 18-hit, 12-walk assault.
A lot of players to say goodbye to but a few stand out.
Donovan Casey will probably go unclaimed; he’s just has not hit this year and he’s 27.
Jackson Coutts had the bad luck to finish up his college career in 2020. He lost his final year there and hung on and played briefly at Fredericksburg but didn’t hit and had been stuck in Florida since.
Longtime farmhand Cole Freeman was listed as released but is still on the active Rochester roster. He didn’t play last night.
so, The Kids Are Alright!
tough times for many, thanks for giving it your best and good luck!
Interesting to see the table setting for Wilmington with Peña and Rivero now in the mix with the guys accustomed to hitting in top four slots .
Peña should bring some speed which never sleeps ( as Whitey Herzog always said).
Listen to the Doctor
Karnak borrowed from Johnny Carson days:
Ok Fred MD : Adon goes 5 IP
Reyes goes 3 and one third
Theophile goes 4
Astencio on a short leach
With a stocked bullpen
1 1 third
Lol!
Karnak way off
Reyes throws a QS?
Wow
From now on Karnak will guess who doesn’t toss a QS or reach little league outing
3-4 IP
Lost in all this roster shuffling was Mitchell Parker’s outing. As usual he had lots of traffic but only being scored on once and lowering his ERA to 2.35.
I don’t believe in predictions, but look for Adon to shut down Norfolk tonight and put and end to the misery.
Woods is a big kid! he runs pretty well and in the first last night after slicing a single into the left center gap, next thing I know he’s sliding into second. that gave Frizzell an RBI op which he cashed in with a single to center. after a walk Lipscomb came up in swing mode and yanked one down the line to complete the five spot. exciting!
I almost didn’t go to the Senators game last night. The weather forecast wasn’t promising and called for thunderstorms. But quarter past five, I thought it would be okay, and except for a heavy downpour near the Turnpike intersection on 83 the weather was fine.
I don’t know why I stayed until the end. That ninth inning was brutal. Justin Connell made a diving catch of a bloop into right… or at least that’s how it looked to me and everyone, but the first base umpire disagreed. There were so few people in the ballpark that I could hear Tripp Keister’s argument with the umpire.
Lovely night. Beautiful skies at sunset. A game that was actually within reach through 8. And I found myself wishing for a mercy rule in the top of the ninth, just to spare everyone the pain.
Kudos to the guys who grinder through the unfortunate times 2030-22.
They kept the chairs warm for the wave coming up .
Wilmington should have an interesting blend including the drafted de 22 by next spring .
Good luck to the guys with the pink slips in your next endeavors .
We should see a mixture from Green as seen in his debut
A tater with 3 Ks
Yikes. A collective pitching meltdown (with one exception) yesterday. That’s 57 runs allowed in 6 games…
Fortunately, the only starter that could be really classified as a prospect, Mitchell Parker, had a really solid outing, keeping his walks down.
Jarlin Susana also started, but for whatever reason, only last 2 IP with solid stats, 1 H and 2BB and 1 ER, but 4 K.
The rest are better not to reflect on…
Great to see Green flash that much touted power. Unfortunately, he also flashed his much more worrying trait: no discipline, and struck out in his other 3 ABs. It’s still the earliest of days, but Green is going to need a lot of good coaching for him to evolve into the hyped prospect he could become. But do the Nationals have these coaches?
Also, how about Will Frizzell?! I still have no idea what kept him from playing for so long, but he’s now sporting a professional triple slash of .363/.429/.593 between this season and last. Maybe his senior year hitting .343/.451/.686 wasn’t the fluke that it seemed it might!
Now, please just play him everyday!! He’s still only playing every other night, to make space for Branden Boissiere’s .335 SLG%.
With all the pink slips being handed out at the Complex coupled with four guys placed on 69 day DL ( Hidalgo , Contreras , Marte and Ureba ).
Roismar Q to Fred makes total sense . Somebody else can fill QS big bat in 3 hole .
Josh Rogers signs with the Marlins.
