Good to see Frizzell and Coutts getting ABs in the heat of the Leo new moon .
Good to see Nats adding infielders who can “ Vance Law “ ( 3b/2b).
Nice nights to play two . In an Ernie Banks mindset
The dogs went out early this am , Luke ?

I’ve been hyping hope on Will Frizzell since he was drafted, so I’m glad to see him delivering after missing much of this season due to injury. He’ll turn 24 in February but still has a chance to bloom late. 10th rounder Murphy Stehly is the Frizzell from the latest draft (even though a Longhorn wouldn’t like being compared to an Aggie!). I love giving a look to these seniors who had big seasons.

good debut from Atencio. he relies more on deception than swing and miss, even varying his delivery at times. look to be tiring a bit in the fifth but they let him battle through and he got the last out on his best curveball of the night. the WP was really a passed ball. the key will be to see if he can continue the low walk rate he showed in FL.

over the past few years there have seen similar 23-24 yr olds with the same stuff, nice to see a youngster doing it

It seems past time for Mitchell Parker to get a look at AA. Aside from the walks, he’s been dominant. They can’t hit him. His hits-per-nine is only 5.0, BA against .162. He profiles a lot like Cooper Hjerpe, the #22 overall pick — doesn’t throw that hard, but quirky LH delivery that batters can’t hit.

6.2 walks/9 innings does not scream promotion to me. it will only get worse at higher levels

Parker only walked three in six innings last night and only two in six the prior start. At some point they have to move him up and find out what they’ve got. Nearly all the other stats are dominant.

Mitchell Parker now has an ERA of 1.59 and a WHIP of 1.25. Yes he has traffic but a battler every time out.

Folks, we have a big time prospect in Zach Brzykcy. After making the BIG jump to AA he has appeared in 18 games with a 0.89 ERA and a WHIP of 0.93. Just incredible numbers!

As co-chair of the T.J. White fan club, he’s been consistently good all season, deserving of a shoutout. He just turned 19 this week.

You know, “prospects” seem to have to be born that way to actually get thought of as a “prospect.” Brzykcy is an undrafted free agent. He was undrafted because he was total Nuke LaLoosh at Virginia Tech. I don’t know whether he ever hit the mascot, but I wouldn’t doubt it with a college career BB/9 of 10.5. But the Nats took a flyer on him because his K/9 was 13.9. Now he’s just turned 23, and he’s only given up two earned runs in 20.1 IP at AA. He sure should be a non-roster invitee to the MLB camp next spring.

There were only 5 rounds in the draft that year, so possibly more talent out there in free agency than usual.

But wow, certainly not much in the stats to indicate he’s any kind of prospect, unless you count his sterling performance for the 2019 Falmouth Commodores.

By the way, the Nats also signed his Falmouth teammate Jackson Coutts as a free agent

I mean not much in his stats prior to signing with the Nats.

I think I jinxed Darren Baker yesterday by saying he was the only recent promotee to not play well. Well, he was so offended he went deep for only the third time of his short professional career!

Frizzell, Millas and Witt also had good games too.

I’d like to put a word in for catcher Onix Vega. Not just because of his 820 OPS at Wilmington, but because I think he has the coolest name of anyone we’ve had in the system. Sounds like something out of science fiction.

Leif Strom was also a good name.
As is Daniel Ponce de Leon and Alex Troop.

    Richard Guasch in Wilmington:

    10.2 IP 0 ER 2BB 15K.

Obviously getting demoted at age 24 is not a good thing, but maybe, just maybe, someone coached him up?

Looks like Daylen Lile might be making his debut for Fredericksburg soon/tonight. He just tweeted himself in fredNats uni captioned “chomping at the bit.”
