A bit wild but overall a good outing by Parker.
Today let’s put a spotlight on Jack Sinclair, a 16th round pick from last year. He’s been terrific, with an ERA of 1.47 and an even better WHIP of 0.93. He’s 23, so it’s time for him to get challenged at High A.
Ho hum, Leandro Emiliani still dominates Low A, not that the f.o. notices.

Good bad indifferent curse ??
Day off for Christian V
And Joan Adon demonstrates once again why he should be at AA. I have no idea what they think they’re proving with him. But he does fill out a uniform well . . .
Or else the Nats want to see if Joan could best the Expos/ Nats losses in a season watermark set by Steve Rogers decades ago before he became a rock
agree with the above assessment of Parker.
Antuna displayed the stroke that keeps him in the mix. the prettiest Tony Gwynn opposite field line drive in the first and then turned on one in the fourth. I’ve not seen him much before last night but will not miss him from here on out. I suspect the issue is consistency (and of course his defense), not a small obstacle for prospects.
and by fourth I mean fifth

OK, you made me look (at the stats) on Antuna. He’s still only in his age-22 season, although he’s already burning options thanks to the misguided addition to the 40-man. He’s walking quite a lot (basically 20%) but still striking out too much (22%) for someone with that good of strike zone recognition. BA is a mediocre .241 but .381 in June thus far (SSS).
What’s still really missing for Antuna is corner-level power. He has six homers and six doubles, SLG .405 (boosted over .400 by the homer last night). That would be adequate if he was still a middle infielder, but it’s not nearly enough for a corner OF. He’s age-appropriate for A+ and repeating the level, but he’s still not showing numbers that would flash and give a hint that he could be a starter at the MLB level. Right now, he’s basically Difo, who had 14 homers at age 22 (along with 31 doubles and 7 triples).
Has Antuna improved defensively in the OF?
Realize that corner OFs are generally evaluated on their offense, but the few times that I saw Antuna play the OF this Spring, he was awful. Previously, I assumed that if he had the athleticism to be considered a potential MLB SS, Antuna had the chance to be +defensive corner OF and possibly even a CF. Instead, I am just hoping that he is adequate defensively. As stated above, corner OFs needs to be star offensive players, and Antuna hasn’t reached anything close to that level yet.
I cannot dispute the statistical analysis, but watching him swing the bat last night was a joy. the out he made was a long drive to the warning track in left. and the Braves prospect was dealing at that point.
again, can he do it more consistently? if not then he’ll just be another in the long list of prospect disappointments.
I’m not rooting against him. It would be huge for the organization if he turned into something. Obviously you’re seeing in his swing what has enticed the gurus, and the organization to add him to the 40-man. At the same time, you also wonder how much of a burden on him the hype and bonus money have been.
As for Antuna’s defense, I see that he has made four errors in the OF this season. I haven’t watched so don’t know whether he’s gotten any smoother.
Anyone know what injury Cody Wilson has to land him on the 60 day IL?
I’m puzzled about Jeremy de la Rosa. He hasn’t played since May 31st, but the FNats haven’t put him on the IL, despite the obvious bottleneck of players that would benefit from such a move.
What are COVID protocols for the minors? Do they have a unique designation like in the majors? Or do they just sort of disappear for a week or so, like JdlR is right now?
I don’t think there is one since now just about every level operates like the NYPL did (e.g. ~30 players, of which ~25 are active).
It’s exciting to see some of the arms from the 2021 DSL Nats’ fabulous squad showing what they can do stateside. Atencio was one of the best, and he got roughed up in his first start (gave up 4 ER yesterday, when he gave up 9 total last season!), but the rest of the start was good. He was missing bats (5 K in 3.2 IP), and not too wild (only one walk, but two wild pitches).
Another good one from last year was Juan Abreu, who started where he left off, striking out 5 in 2.1 IP, allowing no hits.
It’s a shame to see that one of the other really good arms, Jefrem Leon, is repeating the DSL. In 2021, he sported a miniscule 1.46 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, allowed only 13 H, and struck out 27 in only 24.2 IP. He has nothing more to prove with another season in the Dominican (further evidenced by yet another very strong start).
Sinclair having a Moore esque start
Has anyone heard from Brady House lately? After tearing up the FCL last year and getting off to a blazing start this season at Fredericksburg he seems to have disappeared.
