Rochester 9 Worcester 5
• Sharp 4IP, 5H, 0R, 3BB, 2K
• Baldonado (W, 1-0) 1IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 2K
• Weems 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Stevenson 5-5, R, 3-2B, 2RBI
• García 3-5, R, HR, 2RBI
• Meneses 2-4, 2R, BB, 2B

Rochester built a 6-0 lead after four and held off a late charge by Worcester to take their eighth straight, 9-5. Sterling Sharp labored through four scoreless innings, scattering five hits and walking three while striking out three. Alberto Baldonado was credited with the win despite giving up a run on two hits and no walks while striking out two. Andrew Stevenson singled twice, doubled three times, and drove in two as did Luis García with his 8th HR as the Red Wings pounded out 14 hits total.

Richmond 7 Harrisburg 4
• E. Lee (L, 0-2) 5⅔ IP, 3H, 4R, 4ER, 3BB, 9K, HR
• A. Lee ⅓ IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 0K, HR, 2HBP, 2-2 IR-S
• Millas 2-3, 2B, 2BB, 2RBI
• Alu 2-4, R, 2B, BB, RBI

The Senators didn’t homer while the Flying Squirrels did, three times, for a 7-4 Richmond win. Evan Lee pitched into the 6th for the first time this season, and left with a 2-2 tie that Andrew Lee couldn’t hold as he gave up a three-run HR to the first batter he faced. The elder Lee retired just one of seven batters faced, walking three and hitting two. Drew Millas and Jake Alu combined for four hits, two doubles, three walks, and three RBI to pace the Harrisburg offense, which went 3-for-13 with RISP and left on 11 baserunners.

Wilmington 2 Brooklyn 1 – SUSP.
The fog delayed the start of this one by 2½ hours and they played two innings before play was halted. They’ll try again to get in two today, with the completion of this one at 12:30 p.m., followed by a seven-inning game – weather permitting.

Fredericksburg 7 Kannapolis 5
• A. Lara 5IP, 5H, 3R, 2ER, 0BB, 9K, HR, 3WP
• Sinclair (W, 2-1) 2⅓ IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 3K, HBP
• J. Young 2-4, 2R, BB, 2RBI, 2SB
• Williams 2-4, 2R, 2B
• Martina 1-3, R, SF, RBI

Jacob Young’s two-run single capped off a three-run rally in the bottom of the 8th as the FredNats shot down the Cannon Ballers, 7-5, and stopped a two-game slide. Andry Lara pitched five full innings for the second straight start, allowing three runs on five hits (one HR) and no walks. He struck out nine. The win went to Jack Sinclair, who got the last seven outs while giving up two hits and a Victor Robles. Young also stole two bases while going 2-for-4, as did Steven Williams as the Fredericksburg offense squeezed seven runs out of eight hits and four walks.

Late last week, Baseball America released its latest transaction post, which included the signing of RHP Edgar García as well as the following releases:

  • OF Gerardo Parra
  • RHP/C Sandy Martinez
  • IF Jake Boone

It’s not clear if the García is this one or an IFA with the same name. Too much has been written about the Baby who jumped the Shark in 2020 while it appears that Martinez was an experiment to convert a former… wait for it… Diamondbacks player from catcher to pitcher. Boone is a legacy pick who posted an OPS of .611 last summer and is now playing for the Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League.

House in the lineup again, as DH. They’re clearly being careful with his return . . . for good reason.

If Andrew Stevenson still had options, he’d have been called up by now with Lane Thomas sent down. With no options, though, he’s in a pickle. He’d have to be added to the 40-man to be called up, and he’d have to pass through waivers to be sent back down.

      Looking at AS vs LT:

AS 395 AB 687 OPS WAR 0.4 turns 28 this year
LT 377 AB 720 OPS WAR 1.4 turns 27 this year.

So you can take your pick. I guess if Yadiel had a sure roster spot, it came down to taking the righty over the lefty to play the LF/backup CF role.

I don’t think either one of these guys will have significance for the future, but you are right – it is unfortunate for AS that he is off the 40.
