Mets Triple Up Nats, 6-2
Three first-inning homers were more than enough to put the Nats away as they lost again, 6-2 to the Mets.
Josiah Gray gave up four runs on those three dingers and four hits total over his inning and 2/3rds. He walked none and struck out two.
The regulars once again needed the help of an error to score a run, with Ehire Adrianza drawing a leadoff walk, taking third on an errant pickoff throw, and scoring on an RBI groundout by Richard Ureña. For the second straight game, Washington was hitless with RISP (0-for-5) and left on four baserunners.
Lucius Fox’s two-out homer in the bottom of the 9th accounted for the second Nats run.
Just two watchlisters saw game action:
- Jackson Cluff was the second SS and went 0-for-1 while turning a double play in the 8th.
- LHP Evan Lee set the side down in order in the 9th, striking out two.
Washington goes on the “road” – the visitors’ clubhouse, natch – as they take on their co-tenants in West Palm Beach. The Astros are slated to start RHP Hunter Brown while the tireless TBD is set to pitch for the Nats.
