Career Stats
Despite graduating from BC and posting mediocre results at SS-A Auburn in 2019, Alu stuck around for the 2021 season and made the jump past Low-A to High-A and finished the season at Harrisburg. The biggest jump came in power – .340 to .440 in SLG% – but Alu also improved his BA and OBP rates while playing good defense, especially at 2B (1E in 33G).
Jackson Cluff   Jackson Cluff
Born: 12/3/96
Ht. 6′
Wt. 185
Bats: L

Career Stats
While Cluff finished the 2021 season with a strong showing in the AFL (.342/.432/.456 in 22G), the now-25-y.o. BYU grad has barely more pro experience than collegiate (107G vs. 96G). To make matters worse, Cluff suffered two major injuries (broken thumb, hamate). The good news: with Trea Turner gone the position of shortstop is up for grabs.
Darren Baker   Darren Baker
Born: 2/11/99
Ht. 6′
Wt. 180
Bats: L
Throws: R
Career Stats
Baker, son of youknowwho, signed the second time the Nats drafted him in the 10th Rd. out of UC-Berkeley. Like most of the ’21 picks, he played very little (22G) but put up a line of .333/.375/.407. Scouts say his best tool is his speed, followed by his glove, though his arm pretty much limits him to 2B or CF. He’s unlikely to develop any power and will have to continue to spray the ball to all fields to move up.
Brady House   Brady House

Ht. 6’4″

At No. 11 overall in the 2021 Draft, House is the highest HS position player taken by the franchise since it relocated to Washington, surpassing the immobile immortal Chris Marrero (1/15, ’06). House bitch-slapped FCL pitchers for a .970 OPS in 16G at the ripe old age of 18, which will beg the question of will the Nats send him to Low-A in ’22 (like they did with Marrero in ’07).

A 2019 “DSL Guy,” the 19-y.o. Venezuelan moved stateside and spent time playing 2B, 3B, and SS for the FCL Nationals. The three HRs seems to suggest that 155 lbs listed to the left is inaccurate, but the better news is that his OBP jumped to .409 from .327 while striking out just 17 times in 32G. Eight steals in 10 attempts is not too shabby, nor is two errors (both at 3B) in a little more than 230 defensive innings.
