Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 11 Rochester 9
• Braymer 3⅔ IP, 5H, 7R, 7ER, BB, 6K, 2HR, 2HBP
• A. Lee (BS, 1;L, 0-1) ⅔ IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 1K, WP
• Robles 2-4, 2R, 2-2B
• Noll 2-4, R, 2B, 2RBI
• Flores 2-4, 2R, 2RBI

An 8-2 lead was too small for the Red Wings to hold as they managed to blow it and lose, 11-9, to the RailRiders for their 10th straight loss. Ben Braymer was dinged for seven runs on two homers, two doubles, and a single over three and 2/3rds innings. He walked one and struck out six. Andrew Lee was charged with the loss as retired just two of six batters faced and let in three runs to turn a 9-8 lead into the eventual final score. Victor Robles, Jake Noll, and Jecksson Flores each went 2-for-4 and combined for five runs, four RBI, and three doubles as Rochester tallied 11 hits and four walks total.

Bowie 5 Harrisburg 4
• Cate 6IP, 3H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 9K
• Schaller 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Cronin (BS, 1;L, 0-1) 1IP, 3H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 2K
• Lara 3-4, RBI,
• Wiseman 2-4, R

Bowie got four in the 9th to turn a 4-1 deficit into a 5-4 win and extend Harrsiburg’s losing streak to seven. Tim Cate struck out a season-high of nine while throwing his second straight quality start, allowing one unearned run on three hits and no walks over six innings. He was rewarded with a no-decision. The blown-save-loss went to Matt Cronin, who was knocked for four runs on three hits and two walks. Gilbert Lara led the Sens hit column with three singles, followed by Rhett Wiseman with two. K.J. Harrison homered again to push his season total to 14 and drove in two.

Wilmington 3 Aberdeen 2
• Shuman 5IP, 7H, 2R, 2ER, BB, 6K, HR

• Ydens 2-3, R, 2B, HR, 2RBI, HBP, OF assist @ HP
• Mendoza 2-4, 2R

The Blue Rocks went 0-for-14 with RISP… and still won, 3-2 over the Iron Birds. Seth Shuman made his seventh start and came away with his third no-decision with two runs let in on a homer and seven hits total over five innings. Tyler Yankosky and Todd Peterson both turned in two scoreless innings to earn the win and the save, respectively. Jeremy Ydens tied the game at 2-2 with a two-run HR in the 2nd and preserved it in the 5th as he threw out a runner at the plate. Drew Mendoza led off the 6th with a single, took third on a safety by Justin Connell, and scored on an Omar Meregildo groundout. Wilmington totaled seven hits and five walks and left on 11 baserunners.

Delmarva 9 Fredericksburg 7
• Cuevas (L, 1-8) 3⅔ IP, 8H, 8R, 8ER, 3BB, 5K

• V. Peña 2-4, 2B, 2RBI, CS
• Boissiere 2-5, R, 2RBI
• Barley 2-5, R, 2B, SB(10)

Fredericksburg actually led 5-0 after its half of the 3rd but a six-run 4th did them in and its 9th inning rally fell two runs short for a 9-7 win by Delmarva. Michael Cuevas lost for the eighth time as he let in eight runs on… wait for it… eight hits and three hits over three and 2/3rds innings. He struck out five. Tyler “Shut Yo Mouth” Schoff and Carlos Romero combined for four and a 1/3rd innings of one-run relief, but the Shorebirds relievers were equal to the task, holding the F-Nats to two runs over the last five innings. Viandel Peña and Branden Boissiereboth both drove in two and had two hits as did Jordy Barley, who stole his 10th base since coming over in the deadline trade (43rd overall).

Good for Cate for building a positive end to a struggling season. Also a strong Sept. for Reid Schaller so far, only two hits and one walk allowed (and no runs) in 5.2 IP in the month, with 10 Ks. There are going to be A LOT of bullpen openings with the big club in 2022. Current auditions are NOT going well.

Still waiting to hear if the Senators will head to NH to end the season. Covid has not been kind to the Fisher Cats.
