• Dietrich 1-3, R, HR(GS), 4RBI
• Ruiz 2-5, R, RBI
• Palka 0-1, 4BB

Rochester trotted out eight pitchers and eight batters trotted ’round the bases while doubling up Lehigh Valley, 8-4. Rehabbing Austin Voth did the FCL start but avoided any runs coming in as he gave up a single and a walk in the 1st. The win went to Alberto Baldonado as the most effective reliever while Kyle McGowin, Patrick Murphy, Ronald Peña, Jerry Mathers as “The Beaver” and Sam Clay each earned a hold. Derek Dietrich’s grand slam highlighted a five-run 1st while Jake Noll’s two-run double in the 8th put the game on ice. The Red Wings collected just seven hits, with Keibert Ruiz the sole batter to have multiple hits, but drew ten walks – four by Daniel Palka. Roster moves: RHP Austin Voth assigned from Washington for MLB Rehab; OF Donovan Casey promoted from Harrisburg; RHP Patrick Murphy optioned from Washington; OF Carlos Tocci released.

Harrisburg 4 Akron 3
• Cavalli 4⅔ IP, 6H, 3R, 3ER, 6BB, 8K, HR
• Teel (W, 2-5) 1⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K, 1-0 IR-S
• A. Lee (SV, 1) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Freeman 2-4, 2B, 2RBI
• Sagdal 2-4

After a 145-minute filibust, er rain delay (which shortened the game to seven innings), the Senators rallied for four in the top of the 6th to erase a 3-0 deficit and edge the RubberDucks, 4-3. Cade Cavalli’s control issues resurfaced as he walked six for the second time this season while running out of gas with two out in the 5th after 96 pitches. The win went to Carson Teel, who picked up the win after getting the last out in the 5th and pitching a scoreless 6th. Andrew Lee set the side down in order in 7th for the save. Cole Freeman singled, doubled, and drove in the tying and go-ahead runs in the 6th while Ian Sagdal singled twice to lead the Harrisburg offense. Roster moves: OF Jacob Rhinesmith promoted from Wilmington.

Ricardo Méndez bookended the Wilmington tallies with an RBI single in the 2nd and a sacrifice fly in the 6th. In between, Drew Mendoza and Justin Connell both connected for RBI singles in the 3rd. Omar Meregildo had the only other hit for the Blue Rocks. Roster moves: OF Ricardo Méndez, 1B Kevin Strohscehin promoted from Fredericksburg; OF Alec Keller transferred from FCL for MiLB rehab.

• Stainbrook 5BF, 3H, 5R, 5ER, 2BB, 0K
• Ge. Diaz 2-4
• Barley 0-3, R, 2BB, 2K, SB(5), E(6)

Delmarva went to town on the Fredericksburg bullpen, scoring seven times in the 6th en route to a 10-1 demolition. Karlo Seijas reclaimed the organizational lead in losses with his 11th, though he was not terrible: three runs on four hits (one HR) over five innings with no walk and no strikeouts. Troy Stainbrook put all five batters he faced on while Chris “Chevy” Vann let the two he inherited in plus two of his own. Geraldi Diaz was the sole batter to have multiple hits, collecting two of the three singles while Jeremy De La Rosa had the only extra-base hit, a two-out double in the 8th. 2021 Draft Picks assigned: OFs Branden Boissiere (3rd Rd.), Jacob Young (7th Rd.), and Jaden Fein (15th Rd.).

• Arias 2-5, R, 2B, 3K
• Geraldo 2-4, R, RBI, 2K
• Dietrich 1-1, 2B, RBI

A 4-1 lead was too small for the FCL Nats ‘pen to hold as they coughed up four in 8th and one in the 9th for a 6-5 walk-off loss to the FCL Marlins. Tyler Dyson was the first of seven pitchers used, tossing two scoreless. The blown save went to Bryan Caceres (4R, 2IP) while Manuel De La Rosa walked two with one out before giving up the game-winning double. Keep it up CubanG and Cuevas!!

      Ideally, Washington.

But more likely Rochester. Nick Banks (.182 AVG) and Rafael Bautista (.219) shouldn’t stand in the way of Keller’s career AAA average of .303.

For this is the day the long overdue transactions were made. Let us rejoice and be glad.

Curious, though, that Brady House is not one of those assigned. Or Daylen Lile. I guess the high schoolers will go to some sort of XST before joining the FCL?

I will be checking the box score today. It is disappointing. I would love to see House, Lile, and White get a shot. Those three plus Vaquero and Cruz in Fburg next year would be fun.

Let us rejoice and be glad .. in IT…
In the spirit of the late Marian Tyler in Harrisburg who all expo kids adored ..she loved rooting on the kids long before they hit the Big Show and then greener free agency pastures
      This is a reset , y’all.
Dark days may be lingering but maybe Nats in 22 msy gave several shades of Grey / Gray in rotation ? Jon Gray ROX healthy enough to sign short term ?
Action Jackson return giving him number 40 and a half ?

A good sign that the system is much better is the release of Carlos Tocci. Someone who has never hit and was never more than a placeholder.

I know Luke has been talking up Ricardo Mendez this year. Hopefully this is his breakout year; he has never hit before but this has a solid .777 OPS. He’s only 21.

Tocci and Wilson were warm bodies snagging fly balls and coverage OF acreage

Kirian and Quintanilla were assigned to the FCL Nats and made their professional debuts in relief. Kirian gave up a pair of hits but no damage. Quintanilla gave up a hit. Both had a strikeout.

I have heard that the high school draftees are in camp in FLA but have yet to be assigned to the team. That’s three of the first five picks, including the top two. Eager to see them get going. House in particular is a big deal for the future of the franchise. I’m also intrigued by White’s power.
