Rochester Red Wings (34-51, 5th, 19GB, Northeast Div. AAA East)
The Red Wings dropped five of six against the Bison and fell back another two games in their division. While most of the affiliates have about a month left, Rochester will play an extra 10 games as part of MLB’s “Triple-A Final Stretch.” This week it’s seven against the IronPigs, including a doubleheader on Saturday.
Harrisburg Senators (33-56, 6th, 23GB, Southwest Div. AA Northeast)
Harrisburg finished its 12-game homestand at 5-7 and now heads to first-place Akron for six. The two teams met previously on July 13-18 at City Isle and the RubberDucks took four of six.
Wilmington Blue Rocks (39-51, 4th, 17GB, North Division High-A East)
The Blue Rocks are riding a five-game streak that put four games between them and the last-place Cyclones and picked up two against the first-place Renegades. This week, it’s six at second-place Aberdeen, where the two split their previous series at Ripken Stadium in May.
Fredericksburationals (33-57, 4th, 19GB, North Division, Low-A East
Fredericksburg makes the second of three treks out to Salisbury, MD to face Delmarva for six. After starting the season 0-8 against the Shorebirds, the F-Nats have broken even against the Shorebirds, including a 4-2 series win earlier this month.
FCL Nationals – OFF DAY
It’s been five days since the FCL Nats last played, and they’re currently on a three-game slide. Meanwhile… Released: RHPs Dylan Beasley, Andres Castro; OF Raymi Gomeez; C Frailin Turbi.
DSL Nationals vs. DSL Yankees1 – CNCLD
For some reason, yesterday’s rainout forced a cancellation instead of a doubleheader today or making it up when the two teams playe each other next month.
I’ll admit to not knowing the 4 released players that well.
Dylan Beasley was a 32nd round pick who’s numbers weren’t that bad but must have been injured most of the time from what I could see.
The other 3 were DSL players who made it stateside this year.
Wish them luck.
Gomez was a switch hitter
Nats have White for that category in the fold
Bravo Adon
CG against a nice Iron bird lineup
Goose eggs
As folks noted yesterday, these releases have got to be in preparation for the arrival of the 2021 draft picks, right? The draft took place six weeks ago. Final signing date was 17 days ago. It’s bizarre that no draft pick is on a roster yet.
Reports circulating that Donovan Casey is being promoted to Rochester today. Other moves seem to be in the works. Remember, they’re playing into October this year, so it’s not as late in the season as it seems.
Forgot that October extension
Crowds will be sparse
Mighty Casey at the bat
Doubles 1 st AB
Like the flankers on his wing
Banks and Palka
Ricardo Méndez and Kevin Strohschein promoted from Fredericksburg to Wilmington.
Looks like some draftees added to Fredericksburg and the FCL Nats. None of the top guys, Boissiere being the highest-ranked of the group.
Arizona Wildcat an interesting talent
Anxiously awaiting to see some shuffle of players! If it’s true about Casey, he definitely deserves it!
Baker, Frizzel, and Williams in for the FCL Nats today.
Also, Cruz is not in the lineup for the DSL Nats today. He is still listed on the roster, but not playing after two days off makes me wonder if he is FCL bound.
Pablo Cruz
Play some Cruz music
Is Antuna due for a bump
Up to Burg ?
Seems pointless now. Next year for sure.
OK, it’s draft Christmas, or at least Christmas Eve, as the high schoolers aren’t playing yet (including the top two picks), but the college guys are. I’m a little surprised that Frizzell wasn’t sent to Fredericksburg, particularly with Strohschein’s promotion. Maybe Boissiere is ticketed for 1B for Fred Nats. It would seem to make more sense to give the OF/1B types a long look in the OF before relegating them to 1B, though.
Sounds like you’re right about Boissiere playing first at Fredericksburg.
Here’s a quote from Scialabba: (https://fredericksburg.com/sports/baseball/professional/frednats-notebook-mendez-strohschein-promoted-as-draftees-arrive/article_5c358b30-c786-5178-a8d6-a4dbf34a3bc7.html)
“He’s someone who’s really gifted with his hands as an around-the-bag defender at first,” Nationals assistant GM, player development Mark Scialabba said. “Really good bat-to-ball instincts.”
I’d guess Boissiere plays every day in Fburg and Frizzell plays every day at FCL. UDFA Jackson Coutts has been manning 1B down in West Palm; so there isn’t REALLY anyone blocking Frizzell.
Too early for another good/bad/interesting, but I was compelled to check on Carson Teel’s stats. We all know he was hammered in the Senators’ rotation, making his last start a month ago today before moving to the bullpen on a full-time basis.
As a reliever, Teel has a .186/.537 line against. Since his last start, he has a 1.32 ERA with a 25% strikeout rate. A couple saves in that time. That’s definitely interesting.
Who hits in Casey’s 3 hole in Harrisburg now ?
Aldrem Corredor is there tonight.
Ok VF
Stuck in Salt Lake
Young batting 2nd and playing RF; Boissierre batting 3rd and playing 1B; Fein batting 7th playing LF.
