Six Red Wings pitchers combined on a 4-0, five-hit shutout of the Bison to break a four-game losing streak. Ben Braymer picked up his fourth win with five scoreless innings, with two hits and two walks allowed, and three strikeouts. Kyle McGowin, Bryan Bonnell, Alberto Baldonado, and Diego Moreno each picked up a hold. Daniel Palka was a triple shy of the cycle while Nick Banks’s two-run HR in the 9th—his first at AAA— took away the save from Aaron Barrett.

Harrisburg rallied for four in the bottom of the 9th to turn a 6-3 deficit into a 7-6 walk-off win, no. 4 this season for the Sens. Gerardo Carillo made his second start but was roughed up for five runs on six hits (one HR) and two hits over five and a 1/3rd innings. He struck out four in the no-decision. Jhon Romero picked up the “W,” his second, with two scoreless innings in the 8th and 9th. Ian Sagdal returned to the lineup after a two-month absence and went 3-for-5 while Gage Canning reached base four times with two singles and two walks. The Sens racked up 14 hits total and had four runners thrown out at the plate, including Brady Lindsly on Sagdal’s third hit, one batter before Donovan Casey delivered the game-winner on his second hit and second RBI. Roster moves: IF Ian Sagdal activated from the 7-Day I.L.

Three Blue Rocks pitchers combined to shut out the Cyclones, 1-0 on two hits. Evan Lee pitched five full innings for just the second time in 15 starts, allowing the first Brooklyn hit and striking out eight. Alex Troop picked up the win with two scoreless innings while Todd Peterson gave up the second hit while finishing the game for his first career save. Armond Upshaw was hit by pitch, stole second then took third on the overthrow, and scored on a fielder’s choice for the sole run of the game. Wilmington collected just four hits total while neither team drew a walk.

Three Fredericksburg pitchers combined on a seven-inning no-hitter as the F-Nats took the opener, 12-0. Gilberto Chu went the first three innings, issuing two walks and striking out five before the rains came delayed play for more than an hour. Amos Willingham went the next two innings, walking one and striking out two. Leif Strom did the same to preserve the no-no. Jeremy De La Rosa singled twice and doubled once to lead the 15-hit parade, followed by José Sánchez and Braian Fernández, who both reached base three times with a single, double, and a walk.

In the nightcap, the Red Sox earned a split with a 5-3 win over the F-Nats. Rodney Theophile failed to make it to the 5th for the ninth time this season as Salem knocked him for all five runs on eight hits (one HR) and a walk, tagging the 21-y.o. Nicaraguan with his ninth loss. Bryan Peña ran his clean outing streak to three with two scoreless innings. Kevin Strohschein and Leandro Emiliani both played their best defensive positions (DH and 1B, respectively) and combined for four of the team’s six hits.

FCL Astros vs. FCL Nationals – PPD
Make that back-to-back rainouts for the FCL Nationals to finish the week. That’s six thus far in 2021. They’ll make this up on Sept. 1st.
