FCL Nationals Postponed OFF DAY
DSL Nationals Lost, 6-4 OFF DAY

Syracuse 2 Rochester 1
• Sharp 3IP, 5H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 4K
• Wells (L, 0-2) 1⅔ IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 1K
• Swihart 1-4
• Noll 0-3, SF, RBI
• 6BB, 0-9 RISP, 8LOB

Rochester only managed just one hit and wasted six innings of one-run relief to fall again to Syracuse, 2-1. Sterling Sharp got the start and scattered five hits over three innings, allowing one run and one walk while fanning four. Nick Wells took the loss, his second, as the S-Mets turned a leadoff single into a run with the help of a walk and two flyballs that moved the runner from second to third, then third to home. Blake Swihart led off the 2nd for the Red Wings only hit, as Rochester did manage to take advantage of three straight walks in the 3rd to score the long run on a sacrifice fly.

Erie 7 Harrisburg 0
• M. Sanchez (L, 3-7) 3IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 3K, 2HR, WP
• Tapani 4IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, BB, 4K, 2HR
• Casey 2-4
• Lara 1-3, 2B

The longball was the downfall of the Senators, as four of them left the confines of FNB field in a 7-0 loss to the SeaWolves. Mario Sanchez was sent packing after three innings with four runs let in on four hits (2HR) and two walks over three innings. Ryan Tapani gave up the other two big flies over four innings of relief. Donovan Casey singled twice but was the only hitter to do so as Harrisburg was shut out for the 13th time this season, but the first time since July 4th.

Bowling Green 8 Wilmington 1
• Shuman (L, 0-1) 5IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 7K, 2HR, WP
• Brzkcy 2IP, 3H, R, ER, 0BB, 6K
• Perez 1-2
• Antuna 1-4, R

SSDL: Bowling Green crushed four homers in an 8-1 smackdown of Wilmington. Can’t blame the language barrier as Seth Shuman also misread the new guy memo, giving up four runs on two homers and four hits overall over five innings for his first loss as a Nats prospect. Ike Schlabach was dinged for the other two HRs. The Blue Rocks mustered just four hits—all singles—and two walks while striking out 11 times. Roster moves: RHP Seth Shuman assigned from Washington.

Fayetteville 6 Fredericksburg 4
• Chu 5IP, 6H, 2R, 1ER, 0BB, 3K, HR
• Turner (BS, 1; L, 1-1) 1IP, 5H, 4R, 3ER, 0BB, 1K, HR
• Randa 2-4, R, 2-2B, RBI
• V. Peña 2-2, RBI
• 1-for-10 RISP, 8LOB

The Trey Turner imploded in the 6th to turn a 3-2 lead into a 6-3 deficit as the Woodpeckers held off the F-Nats for a 6-4 win. Turner gave four runs on five hits (one solo HR) in his single inning of work for the blown-save-loss. The meltdown erased a possible win for Gilberto Chu, who turned in five innings of two-run ball on six hits (one HR) and no walks while setting down three on strikes. Joe Randa doubled twice and drove in a run while Viandel Peña singled twice and drove in a run before leaving with a strain while advancing to second base on the throw home. It was the sole hit in ten RISP chances as Fredericksburg left on eight baserunners.

FCL Nationals vs. FCL Cardinals – PPD
Oh look: The FCL Nats got rained out/on. They’ll make this one up next Friday… the 13th.

DSL Twins 6 DSL Nationals 4
• Rivas 3IP, 0H, 2R, 0ER, 1BB, 1K, 2HBP
• Montero (BS, 1; L, 0-1) 1IP, 1H, 4R, 3ER, 2BB, 2K, HBP
• Santana 1-3, R, BB, RBI
• Colmenares 1-4, 2B

“You can’t give up six runs on just one hit (not a HR) and four walks.” — First glance at the linescore.
“Aguanta mi cerveza” — DSL Nats

Granted, that one hit was a three-run triple, which scored the last three runs. And the D-Nats were efficient with their hit batsman, plating the first two HBPs with a two-out, three-base OF error (one of only two) for the first two runs, and driving in the third D-Twin run with a bases-loaded HBP for the Homer Simpson RBI. Now don’t feel too bad: Two of the D-Nats runs were balked in while another scored on a groundball that the D-Twins couldn’t turn into a DP.

The Red Wings have collected 3 hits in their past two games against quite possibly the only affiliate in the minors worse than ours… yikes.

I don’t think Jeremy De LaRosa would choose the song Jeremy my Pearl Jam as his walk up song
      Cool Carillo
      Nice outing for a transition
      Banks raking lately

Remember when the Blue Rocks were our only hope in the minors, and were a few games above .500?

Suddenly the Oakland trade gives some pitching options especially with the stretching out of Cajun Todd P experiment with Moore as closer

      I can…

I tease about Shuman and Gausch because just about all the hitters picked up have contributed right away, enough that the LT. Dans are already campaigning for them to be called up.

Did that triple hit the fence and turn into the keystone cops on the bases ? Lol
    Swihart playing CF in AAA?

Donovan Casey sure seems to be making a case for a call-up to the majors as the season wanes.

Is Swihart playing outfield an experiment or … throat clearing .. desperation ?
