Rochester 2 Syracuse 1
• Nolin 6IP, 4H, 0R, 0BB, 4K
• Rainey (BS, 1) 1IP, 2H, R, ER, 0BB, 1K, HR
• Barrett (W, 1-0) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Thomas 2-5, R, RBI
• Castillo 2-4
With two out in the 9th, Rochester got a walk and back-to-back singles for a 2-1 walkoff win over Syracuse. New guy Lane Thomas delivered the kill shot and scored the first run in the 6th, with Daniel Palka pushing him across to break up the Star Trek convention on the Frontier Field scoreboard. Alas, despite six scoreless innings with four hits, no walks, and four whiffs, Sean Nolin was denied the “W” when Tanner Rainey did his 2021 thing and coughed up the tying run in the 8th. The win went to Aaron Barrett instead as the veteran minor-league reliever set the side down in order in the top of the 9th.
Harrisburg 3 Erie 2
• Cavalli (W, 2-3) 5IP, 3H, R, ER, 3BB, 8K, 2WP

• J. Romero (SV, 2) 1IP, 0H, 0R, BB, K
• Freeman 2-4, R, RBI
• Cluff 1-2, 2B, 2BB, 2RBI
Defending AA Northeast Pitcher of the Week Cade Cavalli did his part to defend his title while the Sens batters got him justenough offense (Wait. What?) to edge the SeaWolves, 3-2. Cavalli labored through five innings (100 pitches) but gave up just one run on three hits, three walks, and eight strikeouts as he picked up his second AA win. Andrew Lee bridged the game to the 9th with one unearned run over three innings for his second hold while Jhon Romero worked around a walk in the 9th for the save, his second. Cole Freeman singled twice to extend his hit streak to seven games while Jackson Cluff drove in two with a double and a sacrifice fly to lead the Harrisburg offense.

• Millas 3-5, R, 2RBI
• Upshaw 2-4, R, HR, 2RBI
Wilmington scored in six of eight “ups” as they blew past Bowling Green, 10-1 to stop a four-game slide. Joan Adon picked up his fourth win while registering his second quality start, allowing the Hot Rods’ run on three hits and two walks while fanning eight. Davis Moore (2IP) and Kyle Hinton (1IP) combined for three scoreless innings to close it out. Yasel Antuna singled, doubled, and homered while newcomer Drew Millas went 3-for-5 with two RBI in his Blue Rocks debut.

The Woodpeckers sent Karlo Seijas packing with a six-run 4th as they doubled up the F-Nats, 10-5. Seijas became the first 10-game loser as he was, um, pecked for seven runs on nine hits (one HR) and a walk over three and 2/3rds innings. He fanned two. Zach Cornell reached base four times with a single, double, and two walks while Onix Vega got on three times with a walk, single, and a double to lead the 10-hit, six-walk offense.
FCL Nationals vs. FCL Marlins – PPD
Rain washed this one away before it even got started. It’s not clear when it will be made up. The F-Marlins visit West Palm Beach next Wednesday while the two teams meet again in Jupiter on the 17th. Roster moves: OF Alec Keller reassigned from Rochester for MiLB rehab.

Barrett and Nolin part of Sept call up ?
Keibert will be one. Barrett is not a bad guess for the other.
How is Jake Irwin coming along on his rehab
That “ other “ OU arm
Is Kiebert pronounced first vowel like Kie- boom?
Kay-bert is what I’ve heard in interviews.
Our new trade-related players have all started their Nats careers really well. I’m really interested to see what we get from Lane Thomas, if he can rediscover his swing from 2018-2019, we could have a really good player on our hands.
In other news, while MLB’s draft tracker lists our 11th rounder, Marc Davis, from JUCO having not signed, that’s incorrect. His own Instagram shows him signing a contract with the Nationals: https://www.instagram.com/p/CR9MPvsLV7p/
However, Mack Anglin, as expected, will return to Clemson, and Elie Kligman recently committed to Wake Forest. So the Nats have signed 18 of their 20 picks. Look forward to whenever it is that we will get to see them play. I’ve seen that a few of the ’21 draft class have started to be assigned. #1 pick, Henry Davis, as well as Marcelo Mayer and Colten Cowser have already made appearances in the FCL.
Some of us old timers might call Davis
Mac Davis thinking of the ole country singer
Thomas a nice depth piece .
Here is health to Emiliani
Didn’t see yesterday’s post until now, but it’s extremely disappointing to see Cole Henry was placed on the 60 day IL. Only got 5 games out him before he broke… though he looked really good in that short stint.
Also glad to see Alec Keller return from injury. I think he’s got a good shot to get a cup of coffee soon. He certainly deserves it. Drafted 7 years ago out of Princeton, he’s put up a very respectable .296/.348/.386 in over 500 games. What’s more remarkable is his consistency, this is his slash at each minor league level:
A: .302/.346/.396
A+: .292/.349/.377
AA: .295/.344/.393
AAA: .303/.355/.393
Pretty crazy how consistent he is! Would love it if he could do the same in DC!
Keller can handle all three OF spots too …
I do not have the link atm, but there was a recent story about Henry. He says he thinks he will get in some games before the end of the year. He has been working hard.
You are no Sue Dinem! Wait, what..
To those who have seen him play, could Antuna eventually handle SS? 20 errors is a lot, but he has missed time and minor league fields can be tricky. Thanks.
He looked fine in the one game I saw him play in person, but I don’t think we have any regular commenters from that level. So we scout by box score. Defense is down at nearly every level, as it’s pretty obvious no one did much fiddling work last year.
Thank you. He seems exciting. The more giod players the better.
I plan on Aberdeen drive from my place 15 minutes on Sept 7-8 Luke
Send down Victor Robles, call up Lane Thomas. If Juan Soto is hurt, shut him down and call up Daniel Palka. Let’s see what we’ve got.
