DSL Nationals – OFF DAY
It’s home and away against the D-Twins today and tomorrow before finishing the week versus the D-Angels.
A Can Do week for MeregilDO.
Up to 8 taters
Nice outing by Evan Lee
Interesting to see how Emiliani hits along with Arias in the Complex lineup .
FRED busts out
J. sanchez up to .277 BA
When FrED can bunch hits together they can score ten runs
Fonzi looking ok @ Wilmington
Very concerning that Luis Garcia did not play either game last nite after his first back on Tuesday.
Speaking of injury, Emiliani only playing one of the games says he has not fully recovered.
Pearson McMahan is going to give Gabe Klobosits a run for his money as reigning ‘Hot Knife Through Butter’ award winner.
Nobody has touched either one this year.
Cronin left last night’s HBG game with an apparent injury. That’s the second game in a row a pitcher has left the game. Also, Stevenson deserves to be back with the Nats tomorrow.
Stevenson’s 1.500+ OPS in Rochester says it’s time. He can’t hit any worse than Robles.
Stevenson’s .592 OPS in 54 games suggests he can indeed hit worse than Robles (.626 OPS).
If the Nationals aren’t going to give Hernandez a run of starts, then they should just sell him the highest bidder ASAP. He’s not getting any younger, and the way they’ve handled him since he was signed, demonstrates they were never really high on him. I still think there’s a useful player there, but we will never see it if we use him exclusively as a pinch hitter and give all the starts to Gerardo Parra.
But if I were the Nationals, I’d have traded Schwarber away a long time before he got injured (possibly even before he found that hot streak), along with every other player with some market value besides Soto, and gone ahead the rest of the season with an OF of Hernandez, Robles and Stevenson, with Palka for depth. We’re in 4th place in the NL East and 9 GB from the Wild Card spot, with injuries plaguing our roster. This season is the last of our window before Scherzer departs. There’s two ways to handle this, kick start the re-build that’s coming whether we like it or not this winter and sell off our best players to turn our farm system from worst in the league to average. Or start the re-build with the worst farm system in the league and little value beyond Soto remaining in the roster.
This note needs an audio of a toilet flush camode…
With all due respect, Schwarber carried the team from being irrelevant to contending before he was hurt. There is no GM baseball that would start Yadiel Hernandez ahead of Kyle Schwarber or trade Schwarber to give Hernandez time. FWIW, in addition to being a far more productive players, Hernandez is 5 years older than Schwarber. If there was a team that wanted to plug Hernandez in an MLB lineup as a starter, it wouldn’t be tough to trade for him. A middling prospect would get it done. Love Hernandez’s story, but he is not an everyday MLB corner OF.
Braymer must have felt he was back in the PCL last night
