Tyler Eppler dug the Red Wings a 6-2 hole and Brandon Snyder couldn’t give the bullpen a much-needed break in a 13-8 loss to the S-Mets. Eppler retired just one of eight batters faced in six-run 1st by Syracuse. Snyder was brought in to keep an 8-5 game close but was pounded for five runs over two innings, including three HRs. Jake Noll led Rochester’s 13-hit parade with two singles and two homers, followed by Alex Dunlap (single, double) and Andrew Stevenson (two singles). Roster moves: C Jakson Reetz optioned from Washington.

• Lara 2-4, 2R, 2B, HR, 2RBI
• Cluff 2-4, R, 2B, 2RBI

Harrisburg put up four-spots in the 3rd and the 5th as they cruised to a 10-4 win over Akron, stopping a three-game slide. Luis Reyes picked up his seventh win on five innings of two-run ball on two solo HRs while walking two and striking out four. Jhon Romero and Frankie Bartow both gave up a run over two innings in relief. Gilbert Lara doubled, homered, and drove in two while Jake Alu singled twice and doubled once to lead the Senators’ attack. Roster moves: RHP Mario Sanchez placed on the 7-day I.L.; RHP Reid Schaller reassigned from Wilmington.

The Renegades had it made in the 9th as they retrieved a four-run bounty from Tanner Driskill en route to an 8-7 win over the Blue Rocks. Driskill was skewered for five hits and a walk in the final frame. Wilmington capitalized on a two-out error and defensive indifference to get one run back on Israel Pineda’s third hit of the night but Drew Mendoza struck out to end the threat. Alex Troop labored through five innings, allowing four runs on five hits (three HRs) and two walks while striking out seven. Kyle Hinton shut down Hudson Valley for three scoreless for his second hold. The Blue Rocks did not have an extra-base hit but got six walks and some small-ball (sacrifice, SB #17) from Armond Upshaw to compensate for the lack of power.

The battle of the ‘Burgs went to Lynch once again as the Hillcats tripled up the F-Nats, 6-2. Rodney Theophile took the loss with three runs let in on five hits over five innings. He did not issue a walk and struck out three while losing for the sixth time. Tomás Alastre let the game get away with three runs in the 7th on two hits, two wild pitches, and two Victor Robles. Junior Martina reached base three times with a single, double, and a walk while Ricardo Méndez extended his hit streak to 14G with a double.

Niomar Gonzalez made his first appearance since September 2019 and threw two scoreless innings. Pedro González gave up two runs over four innings to notch another blown save. Kevin Rodriguez let in the free runner on a single after sandwiching a strikeout between two walks (the first intentional) to wear the loss. Andry Arias singled, doubled, and drove in a run to lead the four-hit, five-walk assault. Roster moves: RHP Niomar Gomez reassigned from Fredericksburg for MiLB rehab.

All eyes on Reid Schaller as his well-deserved promotion to AA has arrived.
A 3rd round pick from 2018, Schaller makes the biggest of all jumps in the system.

Bad timing on Luis Garcia’s injury, the big club could definitely use him right now.
