Syracuse 10 Rochester 1 – GM. 1
• Eppler (L, 0-2) 3⅓ IP, 10H, 10R, 10ER, 4BB, 2K, 3HR, 2HBP, WP
• R. Peña 2⅔ IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• A. Sanchez 3-4, R,
• Noll 2-4

The wheels came off the bus in the 3rd as Syracuse broke open a 2-1 game with six runs and cruised to a 10-1 win in the opener. Tyler Eppler was the shippping boy, giving up all ten Mets runs on ten hits, including three hoe runs. He walked four, hit two batters, and fanned two while taking his second loss of the season. Adrián Sanchez led the Red Wings hit column with three singles, followed by Jake Noll with two. The rest of the lineup was 1-for-23

Syracuse 2 Rochester 0 – GM. 2
• Braymer (L, 1-3) 5IP, 6H, 2R, 2ER, 3BB, 5K, HR
• Harper 2IP, 1H, 0R, 3BB, 3K
• Barrera 1-3

In the nightcap, Syracuse’s Franklyn Kilomé tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout of Rochester, 2-0. Ben Braymer lost for the third time as he gave up both Mets runs on six hits (one HR) and three walks while striking out five. Ryne Harper pitched two scoreless to keep things close. Jake Noll drew a walk in the 1st to end the perfecto, whike Tres Barrera’s two-out single in the 7th broke up the no-no. Roster moves: IF Humberto Arteaga reassigned from Harrisburg; RHP Kyle McGowin recalled (activated?) to Washington.

Harrisburg vs. Bowiw – PPD
Rain postponed the BaySox and Sens for a second straight night in Bowie. They’ll try to make up one of the missed games with a doublehader. The two teams do not meet again until September, and it’s not clear if they’ll make up the other missed game then.

Wilmington 5 Greensboro 0
• Cavalli (W, 2-1) 5⅔ IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 11K
• E. Lee 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Rhinesmith 2-4, 2B
• Upshaw 2-4, 2RBI
• Pineda 1-4, R, HR, BB, RBI

Led by Cade Cavalli, four Wilmington pitchers combined on five-hit shutout of Greensboro, 5-0. Cavalli pitched into the sixth for the third straight start but didn’t go six, as he was lifted after 99 pitched and two outs. The Nats’ top prospect struck out 11 and gave up three hits and no walks. Malvin Peña finished the inning and put up a goose egg in the 7th, with Evan Lee and Reid Schaller doing likewise in the 8th and 9th innings, respectively. Jacob Rhinesmith pushed his organization-best BA To .308 with single and a double while Israel Pineda took the HR lead with his 6th big fly.

Fredericksburg 2 Down East 1 (7 inn.)
• B. Peña 4IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 3BB, 3K, 2HBP
• Willingham 2IP, 1H, 0R, 3BB, 1K
• Flores 1-3, RBI, SB
• Fernández 1-2

The rain limited the F-Nats’ bullpen to just two innings, enabling Fredericksburg to take its fourth game of the season by a 2-1 decision. Bryan Peña went the first four innings and let in an unearned run on two hits, two walks, and two Victor Robles. The win went Amos Willingham, who pitched two scoreless while putting on four baserunners. In the 3rd, Jecksson Flores drove in the tying F-Nats run and stole second while Jake Boone stole home for what proved to be the game-winning run. The fourth and final Fredericksburg hit came to lead off the 7th and was still there after a Kevin Strohschein flyout when the rains came and stopped play. After a 21-minute delay, the umps called it.

Promote Cavalli to Harrisburg, promote Seijas or Parker or both to Wilmington, promote Lara to Fredericksburg.

It’s time for a look at the Pitching Zeros department at NP.
We still have 3 pitchers after a month of games who have ERA’s of ZERO, as in nada, and they deserve our attention and applause.
    1) Gabe Klobosits
    2) Andrew Lee
    3) Frankie Bartow
Great for all of them! They’re all at Harrisburg.

Next let’s look at the near zeros:
    1) Alex Troop – 0.75 ERA
    2)Tyler Dyson – 0.98
    3)Reid Schaller – 1.13
    4) Cade Cavalli – 1.63 + a WHIP of .98 and he’s pitched the most of this bunch with 27 innings pitched with 45 strikeouts and 8 walks.

There’s lots to like here for us seamheads.

Todd since you are color coding
Pink would be perfect for the releases since players get pink slips in their lockers
Including a co worker who received one inReds chain years ago in Dayton
