Nats Drop Third Straight, 3-1
Washington rallied for one in the 8th and put the tying runs on in the 9th, but a pair of groundouts ended the threat as the Mets beat the Nats, 3-1 for their third straight loss.
Aníbal Sánchez “worked on some stuff” for three innings and gave up two runs on four and two walks while striking out three. He was charged with the loss.
Wil Crowe made his second appearance of the spring as he closed out the game with two goose eggs, allowing no hits, two walks, and fanning one.
Carter Kieboom started again at 3B but was hitless in three at-bats and struck out twice. For the spring, the Nats’ top prospect is 1-for-12 with five K’s.
Other notable minor-leaguers to get in the game were:
- Yadiel Hernandez appeared again LF and drew a walk in two PAs
- Jake Noll stunt-doubled for Ryan Zimmerman at 1B and reached base twice with a single and a walk
- Raudy Read subbed for Yan Gomes and scored a run after drawing a leadoff walk in the 8th, but grounded into a double play in the 9th
The Nats return to West Palm Beach tomorrow to host the Marlins. Officially, the tireless TBD is slated to pitch (Best guess for actual: Joe Ross). The game can be heard on MLB Audio (Miami feed).
Leaving Ft Myers. The women in the holiday inn elevator were like
