Team Yesterday Today Pitching Matchup
Fresno Lost, 8-1 @ Tacoma, 10:05 p.m. Crowe (0-2, 5.25) vs. Nolin (4-2, 5.15)
Harrisburg Cancelled @ Richmond, 6:05 p.m. M. Sanchez (8-4, 2.93) vs. Baragar (3-5, 3.70)
Potomac Lost, 5-2 @ Winston-Salem, 6:00 p.m. Teel (6-3, 3.54) vs. Banuelos (MLB Rehab)
Hagerstown Won, 4-1 @ West Virginia, 7:05 p.m. Alastre (4-12, 5.97) M. Martin (Low-A debut)
Auburn Postponed @ State College, 7:05 p.m. Peterson (1-1, 2.92) vs. Gonzalez (2-4, 7.00)
GCL Nationals OFF DAY @ GCL Mets, 10:00 a.m.

Tacoma 8 Fresno 4
• Braymer (L, 0-6) 6IP, 2H, 2R, 1ER, 6BB, 3K, HR, E
• R. Peña ⅔ IP, 5H, 6R, 6ER, BB, 0K, HR, WP, E
• Y. Hernandez 2-4, R, HR, RBI
• Reynolds 1-2, BB

The Rainiers hammered Ronald Peña for six runs in the 7th to turn a 2-1 squeaker into an 8-1 laugher. The loss went to Ben Braymer despite his second quality start of two runs allowed on two hits and six walks while striking out three. Peña retired just two of eight batters faced before Justin Miller got the last out of inning and pitched a scoreless 8th. Yadiel Hernandez broke up the shutout with his 27th HR and also single as Fresno managed just five hits and two walks while striking out 12 times.

Harrisburg vs. Richmond – PPD
The game between the Squirrels and the Senators was canceled due to wet grounds. It will not be made up.
Roster moves: 1B Ryan Zimmerman assigned from Washington for MLB rehab. Again.

Winston-Salem 5 Potomac 2
• M. Peña (L, 5-9) 4+ IP, 7H, 5R, 5ER, 2BB, 3K, HR
• Reyes 4IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 10K, 1-0 IR-S
• Harrison 3-4, R, 2B, HR, RBI
• Canning 2-3, R, BB, HR, RBI

A three-run 5th snapped a 2-2 tie as the P-Nats dropped their sixth game out of the last seven, 5-2 to the Dash. Malvin Peña failed to go five innings for the 11th time in 22 starts, as he was chased after four-plus innings with all five runs charged to him on seven hits (one HR) with walks issued and three whiffs. Things got much breezier down the stretch. It wasn’t the rest-stop burritos, but Luis Reyes fanning ten Winston-Salem batters over the final four innings, tying his career high. Gage Canning and K.J. Harrison combined for five hits and each hit a solo HR, which was the only way Potomac could score as they went 0-for-8 with RISP and left on eight – five over the final three innings.

Hagerstown 4 West Virginia 1
• Stoeckinger (W, 2-2) 5IP, 6H, R, ER, 2BB, 4K, HBP
• Wells (H, 2) 2⅔ IP, 3H, 0R, BB, 2K, WP
• Pineda 2-3, BB, RBI, CS
• Daily 2-3, BB

Hagerstown got two-spots in both the 3rd and the 8th as they took their second straight from West Virginia, 4-1. Jackson Stoeckinger won his second game while giving up the Power run on six hits and two walks while striking out four. Nick Wells followed with two and 2/3rds scoreless for the hold, also his second, while Pearson McMahan got the last out outs without letting in a run (how novel) for his… wait for it… second save. Israel Pineda and Cole Daily both went 2-for-3 with a walk while Drew Mendoza smacked his fourth HR to lead the Hagerstown attack.

Auburn vs. Williamsport – PPD
With both teams hitting the road, the plug was pulled early on this one, which will presumably be made up when the two teams next meet on Aug. 28-30. Meanwhile, four Doubledays were named to the NYPL All-Star game next week.

GCL Nationals – OFF DAY
Roster moves: C Allan Berrios placed on the 60-Day I.L; C Ivan Murzi reassigned from the DSL.

What do we take away from that beer league game Saturday night ?
Davey should have gone with Hudson from the start of the ninth
Now with Max not on his typical Sunday take the bump for a QS cause the bullpen needs a breather … Fedde needs to go a QS 8. Let’s see who is AVBL- Grace , the loser from this morning JG,
Meanwhile disappointing Crowe. Start in cool Tacoma temp

There should be a clause in the 26 th player call- up in instances where two clubs go toe to toe 15 IP and burn bullpens …

Looks like home plate umpire Denver Dangerfield didn’t get no respect, no respect at all, as he tossed Mario Lisson in just the third inning this morning.

Sao. Seriously ? Denver Dangerfield is his real name ??

Yes. 80-grade ump name for sure.

After being highly touted before the season began, 19 year old Israel Pineda is getting an ugly .592 OPS this year.

Speaking of bad hitting, there is no one at Potomac other than Harrison who is hitting at all. Not good.

Fredricksburg 2020. Different mojo for hitters ??

A buddy of mine who is a Mets fan and works for Sporting News came up with a neat affiliation flip idea: Dodgers abandon OKC for Fresno

If the Dodgers are willing to sell their ownership stake, sure.

Gage Canning has been OK lately.

No, Jakson Reetz has cooled off some in August, but it still at a .983 OPS since the All-Star Break. Corredor’s not walking at much but he’s still hitting roughly the same and he’s still leading the league in doubles. Freeman has also cooled off in August, but still doing about the same pre/post all-start break. Canning has been hot the last two weeks but that’s only offset a July where he was barely hitting better than the OGs.
