Monday’s News & Notes

May 13, 2019

Team Yesterday Today Pitching Matchup
Fresno Won, 3-0 vs. Albuquerque, 9:35 p.m. Copeland (2-1, 5.45) vs. Lambert (2-2, 5.55)
Harrisburg Postponed vs. Trenton, 5:30 p.m. Sharp (3-2. 4.01) and Ondrusek (0-0, 6.75) vs.
Garcia (1-1, 4.66) and Koerner (0-1, 1.88)
Potomac Postponed vs. Down East, 7:05 p.m. Raquet (1-5, 7.57) vs. Mendez (1-0, 2.38)
Hagerstown Postponed @ Delmarva, 7:05 p.m. Alastre (2-2, 5.70) vs. Vespi (1-1, 5.49)

Fresno 3 Albuquerque 0
• McGowin (W, 4-2) 5⅔ IP, 1H, 0R, BB, 11K, 68-47 PIT-K
• Bacus (H, 4) 2⅓ IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Nuño (SV, 2) 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Reynolds 2-2, 2B, BB, RBI
• Read 2-4, R, 2B, HR, RBI

Kyle McGowin struck out 11 to tie his career high while combining with two relievers to shut out the Isotopes, 3-0 on four hits. McGowin allowed just one hit and walk and pitched into the 6th before he was ejected by the umpires after a glove inspection. Dakota Bacus came on to get the last out of the 6th and shut down Albuquerque for two innings to earn his fourth hold. Vidal Nuño3 worked around the fourth and final hit in the 9th to pick up the pick up the save, his second. Raudy Read doubles and homered while Matt Reynolds singled, doubled, and walked to lead the Fresno offense. Roster moves: C Raudy Read activated from 7-Day I.L.; C Matt Reistetter placed on 7-Day I.L.

Harrisburg vs. Hartford – PPD
Rain stopped the finale of the Harrisburg-Hartford series from being played yesterday afternoon. While announced as postponed, it should be noted that the two teams do not meet again until August. With the Eastern League adopting a half system this year, usually a game like this would be canceled. No make up date has been announced. The two teams do have a mutual off day on Monday, June 10, which would require the Senators to travel from Reading to Hartford on Sunday night and then to Richmond on Tuesday, unless the teams agree to play in Harrisburg since the Yard Goats will be heading west to play in Akron, starting on the 11th.

Potomac vs. Wilmington – PPD
Likewise for the Blue Rocks and P-Nats, though it’s a little more clear as to when they’ll make up the game. Wilmington comes to Woodbridge for a three-game series this coming weekend (May 17-19), which would make a doubleheader on Saturday the 18th the most likely outcome.

Hagerstown vs. Delmarva – PPD
Despite the two teams playing today (or at least scheduled to), no makeup date was announced for yesterday’s rainout. Perhaps not coincidentally, they’ll next play each on May 25-28, which just happens to be Memorial Day Weekend.

The senators are a good club this season but far behind the likes of that 1993 beast in the East – Erin League skippered by Jim Tracy.
To quote Marty Brenneman again as that club ran away with things after the two greyhounds were called up to Montreal. ” That’s sick ! “
