Good, Bad, Interesting – Vol. 1
It’s 2019’s first look at who’s hot, who’s not, and who’s (or what’s) surprising in the Nationals minors.
The backstory… I stole named this after the segment comedian Demetri Martin’s TV show, which was on when the site began in 2009.
It seems that whenever a player makes this list—good or bad—his luck changes. While we know that’s merely coincidence, superstition always has a place in baseball, even as analytics has gone from geek to chic. Nevertheless, we call this sequence of events “the curse of the GBI.”
Now, for the disclaimers… it’s early, sample sizes are small and statistically insignificant, minor-league stats aren’t as meaningful as MLB stats, taxes and shipping extra, employees must wash hands, do not taunt Happy Fun Ball, etc.
And the reminders: The guys, their families, their spouses and/or significant others, their host Moms and Dads, and their agents are reading this, too. Please keep it civil in the comments; it’s just for fun.

If the Friars take the Nats series in April the clock ramps up to show Davey the door and bring in Knorr. Forget about prospects and PD and IL stashing …. the Joe Madden magic isn’t sprinkled on Davey
Interesting. German and Guillen with goggles tandem
Rock this block like a hurri- cane
No magic dust in Max outing shows flat aura
Was the 3 errors on Blash last night due to soggy dirt around 1 b or just human errors?
Keister using the Gormon Thomas leadoff approach On Banks Bambi used in Milwaukee
Tapani may soon get the 1-5 assignments as he gets his stuff together in long relief ??
No matter what Austin Adams does in the minors, he changes when he gets on the big league stage. He’s the equivalent of a batter squeezing sawdust out of the bat.
Nice line about sawdust , Steve
Let the purge begin , Lerner group.
Start handing out those pink slips starting in Hags after. That 13-! Shallaking
Stage fright. It’s his big weakness. He has the arm, the repertoire, the command … its why he’s still there and on the 40-man. Not many with his talent out there.
Wiseman missed a two-run shot in extra innings the other day by inches. The ball hit off the very top of the wall, and it was a bullet. His pop is for real.
Voth got sacked in the third last night, but he was brilliant through 2⅔ IP before falling apart. Reliever?
Isn’t that usually the case Sao???
Next up now that Fedde and Ross are on the active roster. Definitely bullpen.
22 year old Jackson “JT” Tetreault to Double A after 4 starts in Potomac. 1.23 ERA, 22 inn 3 ER, 17 Ks, 0.91 whip.
Hey Luke what do you think about Mario Sanchez’s hot start?
It looks like a confluence of his getting healthy with Tejera’s coaching and really unexpected.
