AFL Update: Oct. 10, 2018
The Salt River Rafters put up five in the 4th and held serve against the Surprise Saguaros as the Nats’ entry in the Arizona Fall League won its 2018 opener on the road, 10-8.
Carter Kieboom got the start ahead of Jazz Chisholm and Bryson Brigham at shortstop and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. He made two putouts and had an assist on a 6-3 putout.
Ben Braymer picked up the win in relief, going one and a 1/3rd innings with one hit and one walk allowed and one unearned run, although it was his own doing as he threw one into right field trying to pick off his walk and then gave up a single to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Taylor Guilbeau pitched a scoreless 8th with a flyout, groundout, and a strikeout to earn the hold.
The two teams switch venues but still play night. As predicted, Luis Reyes will be used as a starter and makes his first tonight.
Brass definitely not giving up on Reyes and Joan Baez to see if things fall into place – the light switch flips on- the seconadary pitches EVER develop above a 55 grade.
