Three big innings powered the Senators past the Curve for an 11-3 win in the series opener. Sterling Sharp won for the third time as he spun five innings of two-run ball on four hits and three walks while striking out two. Jordan Mills led a trip of relievers who combined one run allowed over four innings. Drew Ward drove in five with an Earl Weaver Special in the 6th and two-run single in the 7th. Jake Noll also went deep and was one of five batters to collect multiple hits in Harrisburg’s 12-hit parade.

Potomac finally got back to .500 in the second half with a 7-2 win over Frederick, their fifth straight which also pulled them into sole possession of third place. Joan Baez went seven innings for the third time in 20 starts and walked just three while giving up a run on a single in the 5th. Luis Garcia homered for the second time while David Masters went deep for the third time in five games (sixth overall). Tres Barrera led the hit column with four, followed by Masters and Aldrem Corredor with three apiece. Roster move: RHP Jhon Romero assigned from Washington (acquired in Brandon Kintzler trade; not active yet).

The Suns avoided a shutout but not the loss as they fell to the Legends, 4-1. Tomas Alastre went a season-long of seven innings and gave up two runs on a 1st-inng HR and five hits total. He walked two and struck out five while suffering his sixth loss. Carlos Pena helped secure the win for Lexington with two runs allowed in the 8th, the sixth time in 13 appearances he’s allowed a run or more. Armond Upshaw singled and doubled and scored ahead of Alex Dunlap’s RBI single in the 4th. Hagerstown was held to six hits and one walk.

Tim Cate and the Auburn bullpen made a three-run 4th stand up as the Doubledays doubled up the Black Bears, 4-2. Cate tossed four scoreless before giving up a two-run HR in the 5th while winnings his second game. He finished with six hits and one walk allowed while striking out three. Gilberto Chu threw one scoreless inning for the hold while Chandler turned in three to earn his first save. Jacob Rhinesmith doubled twice, scored once, and drove in two to lead the Auburn attack.

The G-Nats lost for the seventh time in nine meetings to the G-Cards, 17-11. Rodney Theophile got the start and retired 7 of 14 batters faced but gave up five runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks for his second loss. Six G-Nats players threw and each gave up a run or an inherited runner. Colton Pogue led the G-Nats on offense with four singles and a double and scored three times while rehabbing Anderson Franco homered and drove in four and Leandro Emiliani reached base three times, scored twice, and drove in two to lead the G-Nats offense.
