• Self (W, 1-0) 2⅓ IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 2K

Syracuse rallied for two in the 8th to tie, then scored three times in the 10th to pull this one out, 5-3.

• Bacus 1IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 2K

Rain shortened this one to five innings as the RubberDucks shut out the Sens on three hits for a 3-0 win to take the series, 2-1. Wil Crowe was strafed for eight hits and gave up all three Akron runs while issuing three walks for his third loss in as many starts at AA. Dakota Bacus walked two but got three outs in the 5th. Alec Keller doubled while Austin Davidson and Hunter Jones both singled. Keller, Carter Kieboom, and Drew Ward also reached base by the walk to account for Harrisburg’s six baserunners.
Potomac 4 Carolina 2
• Crownover (W, 4-8) 6IP, 2H, R, ER, 2BB, 5K
• Braymer (SV, 1) 3IP, 1H, R, ER, 2BB, 1K, HBP
• Wiseman 2-4, R, HR, RBI
• Masters 2-3, R, BB

Potomac got a pair of homers in the 5th to erase a 1-0 deficit and held on for a 4-2 victory to take the series, 2-1. Matthew Crownover turned in a quality start, allowing the first Carolina run on two hits and two walks while fanning five Ben Braymer went the rest of the way, letting in the second Mudcats run on a hit and two walks for his first career save. Rhett Wiseman tied the game with his 21st HR while Telmito Agustin cashed in a walk to David Masters for two-run homer. The trio combined for five hits, three runs, three RBI, and two walks. Roster moves: RHP Brigham Hill placed on the 7-Day DL.
Columbia 7 Hagerstown 4
• Alastre (L, 4-7) 6+ IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, 4BB, 2K, HR, HBP

• Esthay 2-4, R, BB, Of assist at 2B
• Franco 2-4, R
The Suns answered rallies in the 3rd in the 9th but didn’t in the 7th, which was the difference in a 7-5 loss to the Fireflies. Tomas Alastre went six-plus innings and gave up four runs on five hits, including a two-run HR in the 6th. He walked four, hit a batter, and struck out two. Omar Meregildo singled, doubled, walked, scored a run, and drove in a run, followed by Kameron Esthay and Anderson Fracno, who both went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Hagerstown collected 13 hits total but left on 14 baserunners.
Batavia 4 Auburn 2
• Irvin 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• N. Ramirez (L, 1-2) 3IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, K
• Blash 2-4
• Pineda 1-2, R, 2BB
Contrary to previous reports (*cough*), Auburn couldn’t complete the sweep and, in fact, split the four-game series with Muckdogs with a 4-2 loss. Jake Irvin went the first two innings and allowed a hit but did not register a strikeout. The loss went to Nector Ramirez, who gave up single runs in the 7th and 8th innings on five hits total over three innings pitched. He walked none and struck out one. Jamori Blash was the sole Doubleday to register multiple hits, as Auburn was held to five hits and four walks (two apiece for Israel Pineda and Justin Connell).
GCL Nationals 6 GCL Mets 3 (Susp., 7th)
• Karp 2IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Perez 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Morales 2-3, R
• Chisholm 2-4
• Emiliani 1-3, 2B, BB, 3RBI
The G-Nats were in the midst of a five-run rally in the top of the 7th (they were losing 3-1 after six full) when the rains came. Presumably, they’ll finish this on Friday, then play a seven-inning game afterwards.
So Seth Romero resurfaced, pitched two innings, then went back on the DL? Anyone have any news on that? I see Brigham Hill is back on the DL as well. Alex Troop has been on the DL most of the season. That great pitching draft from 2017 isn’t looking so great.
At least Crowe is pitching and has made it to AA. Honestly, I’m not too concerned that he’s not lights out in his early AA outings. He’s pitched and he’s advanced. He’s in his second season back from TJ so should be a bit stronger in 2019. He’ll likely have an invite to spring training camp with the big club. I’m still not sure what we’ve got with him since his success at Potomac wasn’t the dominant variety.
Luke. Greetings from Oregon.
You are up early dog doo doo patrol!!??
This Sam Held bullpen to stretched starter is interesting even if it’s just called upon due to limited assets for starting spots for Anderson .
Hill on the DL? Wow the Nats sure have the injury mojo up and down the chain like Big Club
Where is Grissom ? APB on Grissom ??
This coffee with the organic frog is really good
Could we say that if Jose Urena pitches in 2019 as in his two QS vs Nats this season then some Marlin fans may let the memory of Jose Fernandez drift away? As long as Jose doesn’t take up
Late night boat fishing with stimulants ?!??
PS. Meregildo continues his doubles accumulation @ Hags while Wiseman with 21 HRs looks like a guy brass wants to protect the Nats Aplus lineup .
Nice outing by Dragmire vs a solid Tribe affiliation lineup in Clippers ( ring your bell, Columbus. Not last night. Those bells were quiet late )
Andrew Stevenson had 3 hits yesterday for Syracuse and was not mentioned. Is that due to him having played in the majors the last two seasons? Thanks.
When the GCL started up, I reduced coverage of the Chiefs in favor of the GCL, as I did last year. I’m strongly considering going back to my original decision to only cover the affiliates north of Florida, which I did in 2015 and 2016. The days of my covering all seven affiliates went away once I went to work full time for one employer (and I nearly had to shut down the site).
Fonzy is way cool!!
Columbia Meta affiliate has a good hitting club so Sam Held ‘s QS should raise some eyebrows. 5-6. ERA 3.54. Hmmmmm
