Round one between the first-place RubberDucks and second-place Senators went to the ‘Ducks as they answered the Sens’ two runs in the 8th with two of their own for a 5-4 win. Kyle McGowin turned in a quality start with three runs on three hits and three walks over six innings while striking out four. After striking out the side in the 7th, Ismael Guillon gave a walk, a double, and a sac fly to tie it a 4-4. He struck out the next batter and was lifted for Derek Self, who gave up a single and let in the winning run to hand Guillon the loss. Carter Kieboom singled once, doubled once, and struck out twice to maintain sky-high expectations lead the Harrisburg offense.

Rain threatened but never came last night in Woodbridge, except for the downpour of seven runs in the 8th by Potomac in a 10-0 shutout of Wilmington. Ben Braymer made his second start and tossed six scoreless innings with three hits and two walks allowed while setting down six on strikes to earn his third win. Steven Fuentes followed with two scoreless innings in his return to High-A and earned the hold. Nick Banks’s three-run triple highlighted the Potomac 8th as the P-Nats made the Blue rocks pitchers pay for walking them six times in the inning. Banks drove in five total while Tres Barrera led the 11-hit parade with three singles.

Greensboro vs. Hagerstown – PPD

All ten Doubleday hits came from the top half of the lineup, with Jamori Blash, Gage Canning, and Jacob Rhinesmith each collecting three base knocks. The win went to Fausto Segura with three scoreless innings pitched, one hit allowed, no walks, and two whiffs. 18-y.o. Colombian Leandro Emiliani drove in two with three singles and double while the law firm of Blake Preston Chisholm filed motions for four singles and three RBI; both scored twice as the G-Nats pounded out 19 hits total. What’s going on with Justin Connell? Yesterday he was in LF in GCL and left game before he could get AB. He’s one of the young players I’m excited about, is he injured?

Keep an eye on Aaron Fletcher. I think he is one who can move up quickly.

Speaking of such things, there’s no one really standing in the way of Canning and Rhinesmith moving to Hags if they keep hitting for a couple of more weeks. Both are showing good early returns.

It won’t take much hitting from Raudy Read to get an MLB look, considering the struggles at the plate of Severino and Kieboom.

Speaking of Kiebooms, I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but if Murphy doesn’t start showing enough mobility to play 2B, at what point do the Nats start thinking about bringing Carter K up for a cameo? Difo is at a wRC+ of 77 after posting a 76 for last season. That’s who he is, a fairly limited offensive player. If Kieboom starts getting some reps at 2B, things could get interesting.
