Syracuse – OFF DAY
Yesterday was the final scheduled off day for Syracuse, which begins a six-game homestand against Durham and Indianapolis today. Roster move: C Pedro Severino optioned from Washington.
Harrisburg – OFF DAY
Likewise for the Senators, who take on the Flying Squirrels for three and the Thunder for three over the next six games.

Taylor Gushue’s RBI single in the bottom of the 8th tied while David Masters’s run-scoring single won it as Potomac edged Salem, 3-2. Stephen Strasburg did not disappoint in his rehab outing with a dominant five innings pitched (showed the full arsenal) with a three hits allowed (one solid) one run let in (on a double steal) and five strikeouts. Sterling Sharp followed with four innings of one-run ball on three hits and three walks while striking out two as he picked up his second win in as many appearances. Gushue and Masters both went 2-for-4 to lead the P-Nats’ attack.
Hagerstown – OFF DAY
Unlike the Chiefs and Senators, the Suns’ off day was prior to a road trip. Second-place Hagerstown faces off against first-place Hickory over the next three games. Down by two games in the second-half race, they’ll need to win at least one and have the opportunity to take a one-game lead with a sweep. This is the final time the two teams meet in 2017.
Auburn – ALL STAR BREAK
The 2017 NYPL All-Star Game is tonight in Troy, NY. Three Doubledays were selected: this year’s 16th and 40th Rd. picks, Jake Scudder and Max Engelbrekt, and last year’s 25th Rd. pick, Branden Bogetto.

The G-Nats final got back into the win column with a 7-3 win to stay in first place in the GCL East. Jackson Stoeckinger tossed five scoreless to earn his professional win, allowing four hits, no walks, and striking out five. Jamori Blash reached base four times, scored twice, and drove in two while falling a homer shy of the cycle to lead the G-Nats’ 13-hit parade.
Anytime a 40th rounder makes the All Star game, it’s a big deal. Good for him.
Speaking of 2017 draftees, does anyone have any idea what has become of Cole Freeman? The 4th-round pick did sign, but he’s been completely MIA as far as game participation.
Judging from his social media, he’s in West Palm Beach rehabbing an injury. Not much else can be found.

Agreed. Esthay has been considerably better than Scudder. Maybe they were already overloaded with OFs.
Antuna continues to get hits, seems to have a good eye, but little pop. I know he is just 17 playing in rookie ball, but I’m curious how players like him have typically progressed for the Nats in recent years. Does he stay there another year, play Auburn next summer, or perhaps get challenged by full season at age 18?
