• Bautista 2-4, CS
• Skole 0-3, BB, 2K

The Chiefs gave Johns Simms one run to work with, but he didn’t throw the shutout necessary to win as they dropped the series finale, 5-1. Roster move: OF Zach Collier placed on the 7-Day DL.

Reading 4 Harrisburg 2
• Voth (L, 3-3) 6IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 6K, HR
• Self 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Abreu 3-4, RBI
• Hernandez 2-3, R, 2B, BB

Harrisburg fell behind 3-0 in the 1st and couldn’t recover as Reading doubled ’em up, 4-2. Austin Voth recovered from the three-run 1st to throw five scoreless innings to notch a quality start but lose for the third time in eight AA starts. Derek Self put up one goose egg in the 7th while Tim Collins came up short in the 8th. He also gave up the final Fightins run. Osvaldo Abreu led the Senators hit column with three singles, followed by Yadiel Hernandez with a double, walk, and a single.

Salem 6 Potomac 5
• Williams 6IP, 7H, 3R, 3ER, 0BB, 3K, WP
• Mills (L, 2-2) 2⅓ IP, 3H, R, ER, BB, K
• Sundberg 2-6, R, 2B
• Gushue 2-5, R, 2B
• Lora 2-5, 2B, 3K

The P-Nats dropped their third straight one-run decision as the Red Sox walked off in the 9th with a 6-5 win. Taylor Guilbeau started and went the first five and was knocked around for five runs on nine hits without a walk and three whiffs. Ronald Pena threw three scoreless innings to keep things close but Gilberto Mendez coughed up the game-winning homer to the second batter he faced, suffering his fourth loss and second in eight days to Salem. The trio of Jack Sundberg, Taylor Gushue, and Edwin Lora each singled and doubled to lead Potomac’s 13-hit parade. The loss formally eliminated Potomac from the division title and knocked them back to four games behind Salem in the wildcard race.

Hagerstown 11 Lakewood 5
• Braymer (W, 2-2) 7IP, 10H, 4R, 3ER, 0BB, 8K, HR, WP
• Howard 2IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 1K
• Banks 3-5, R, RBI
• Agustin 2-4, 2R, HR, 2RBI, SB
• Barrera 2-5, 2R, HR, RBI

After falling behind 3-0 after two, Hagerstown scored seven times over the next three innings before Lakewood could answer, then put the game away with a four-run 7th and an 11-5 win that stopped a five-game slide. Ben Braymer went seven innings, giving up four runs on ten hits without a walk and struck out eight for the win. Hayden Howard mopped up with two scoreless innings. Tres Barrera and Telmito Agustin both homered while Nick Banks went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI to pace the Suns’ offense. Roster moves: RHPs James Bourque, Weston Davis placed on the 7-Day DL, retroactive to August 22.

Williamsport 6 Auburn 4
• Raquet 6IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 0BB, 1K

• Choruby 3-5
• Baez 2-4, R, 2B, RBI, PB(10)

The Doubledays were up 4-2 after six and a half, but the Auburn firemen were lit up for three in the 7th and one in the 8th as the Crosscutters took the finale, 6-4. The meltdown turned Nick Raquet’s quality start of two runs on four hits over six into a no-decision. Jared Brasher blew his third save with a three-run, three-hit 7th to take the loss, his first. Nick Choruby singled three times while Omar Meregildo homered again and Jeyner Baez went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Auburn offense.
