Syracuse 6 Pawtucket 4
Syracuse completed a three-game sweep of Pawtucket with a 6-4 win. Wait, what? Roster move: RHP Cody Satterwhite activated from the 3-Day TIL.

Reading 6 Harrisburg 1
• T. Hill (L, 4-3) 4IP, 6H, 6R, 6ER, 2BB, 1K, HR
• Robles 1-2, R, HR, RBI
• Ward 1-2, 2B

The Fightins got two in the 1st and four in the 3rd against cannon fodd..er, Taylor Hill before the rains came and handed the Sens a 6-1 loss in five innings. Hill gave up his organization-leading 22nd HR in the 1st and six hits total over four innings while walking two and striking out one as he lost his third AA contest and eighth overall. Victor Robles homered to lead off the game while Drew Ward doubled to lead the Harrisburg hit tally of five.

Winston-Salem 9 Potomac 2
• Sharp (L, 0-1) 6IP, 9H, 7R, 6ER, 5BB, 3K, HR, 2WP
• Johnson 3-5, SB
• Sagdal 2-4, R
• Masters 2-4

Winston-Salem scored in each of the first five innings as they cruised past Potomac, 9-2 in the series opener. Sterling Sharp battled through six innings on 94 pitches and was charged with seven runs on nine hits and five walks as he lost his Carolina League debut. Daniel Johnson remains red-hot with three singles while Ian Sagdal and David Masters added two apiece to account for seven of the nine P-Nats’ hits. Roster moves: RHP Sterling Sharp promoted from Hagerstown; LHP Tim Collins assigned to XST.

Lakewood 5 Hagerstown 4
• B. Hill 5IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 6K, 2WP
• Morse (BS, 1; L, 0-1) ⅔ IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 0BB, 1K
• Ortiz 1-3, R, 2B
• Panaccione 1-3, 2B, RBI

The Suns squeezed four runs out of three doubles and a walk and were leading 4-2 going into the 9th when the Blue Claws decoded Phil Morse for three runs and a 5-4 walkoff win. Brigham Hill turned in five innings of two-run ball on four hits in his Sally Lg. debut, walking none and fanning six. Morse took the loss as he gave up three runs on four hits while getting two outs in the 9th for the blown-save-loss. Oliver Ortiz, Paul Panaccione, and Tres Barrera each had a double while Telmito drew the lone Walk to comprise the Hagerstown offense.

Auburn 15 Mahoning Valley 7
• Tetreault 3⅔ IP, 7H, 5R, 3ER, 2BB, 2K, 0HR
• Smith (L, 1-3) 2IP, 10H, 8R, 8ER, 0BB, 1K, HR
• Esthay 3-5, R, HR, 5RBI
• Boggetto 2-4, R, BB
• Meregildo 2-5, R, HR, RBI

Since alcohol sales usually end in the 7th, there was no beer to hold, but those who stayed in Falcon Park had to watch this: an eight-run meltdown in the top of the 10th to turn a 7-7 tie into an 15-7 extra-innings loss by Auburn. Jackson Tetrault got the start and didn’t make it out of the 4th as he was charged with five runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while fanning two. David Smith gave up nine hits in the 10th and all eight runs in his second inning thrown for his third loss. Kameron Esthay and Omar Meregildo both homered while Branden Boggetto reached base three times as the trio combined for seven hits, three runs, and six RBI to pace the Doubledays’ offense. Roster moves: LHP Seth Romero reassigned from the GCL.

GCL Cardinals 14 GCL Nationals 12
• Alastre 4⅓ IP, 5H, 5R, 4ER, 3BB, 2K, HR
• Infante (BS, 2; L, 0-2) 2IP, 2H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 4K
• L. Garcia 4-5, 3R, 2B, RBI
• Jo. Sanchez 3-5, 2R, 2B, 4RBI
• Cabello 2-3, 2R, 2B, HR, BB, 2RBI

The G-Nats’ 11-5 lead through five vanished in just two innings as the G-Cards scored once in the 6th and eight times in the 7th for a 14-12 win. Starter Tomas Alastre was strafed for five runs on five hits and three walks over four and a 1/3rd innings. The blown-save-loss went to Darly Infante, who was touched for four runs on two hits and two walks over two innings. Jose Sanchez drove in four and scored twice while going 3-for-5 to lead the G-Nats’ attack. Roster moves: OF Luis Perdomo released; OF Rafael Bautista assigned from Syracuse for MiLB rehab.

Promotion has really slowed down Robles and Johnson, hasn’t it? I assume Robles is ticketed for what will be a high-profile appearance in the AZ Fall League. He’s living up to the high “prospect” billing.

Solid SALLY League start for Brigham Hill. He’s advancing quite well.

And I know teams hate to waste draft picks on kickers, but those two missed extra points sure came back to haunt the GCL Nats! (Goodness, 29 runs surrendered between GCL and Auburn, even as they scored 19.)

Maybe David Smith needs to go back to XST after a long NCAA summer?
Perdomo was destined for a pink slip after a unique suspension title .
Let’s hope for a whimsical not whackey weekend for the boys in Wrigley series

Intrigued to see what Romero can do in Auburn. Crowe, too. I suspect both will be in Hags soon if their first couple of starts in the short season go well.

      Agree on that call .
Is Harper just flapping his jaws sarcastically about leaving to play with Bryant. Even the WGN flagship
Program the cubs cannot afford $400. Million. Unless Bryce would repeat Andre Dawson line : fill in the the check as you see fit. Eaton reminds me of a Mitch Webster type player comparing the buck Rodgers rebuild and a dusty without 34.

Crowe is approaching 100 IP in his first season after TJ. It will be interesting to see how long and far they push him.

Jorge Castillo (WaPo beat writer) has Tim Collins promoted to Harrisburg. They sure are moving him up quickly, maybe even more quickly after the Romero injury.

I stated the other night on Talk Nats that if Collins is fully recovered, he should get a call up when the rosters expand and a long September look. The Nats’ bullpen is still woefully inadequate to make a strong playoff run.

I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that Collins is on the Sept. roster with the big club. Lest we get too ahead of ourselves, though, remember that this is a guy who hasn’t pitched since 2014. The ligament from his first TJ detached, requiring a second one. We’re talking Disney movie comeback story were he to make the Nats’ postseason roster.

. . . with a leading-man role short enough for Tom Cruise to actually play! (Both are 5-7 . . . at best.)

Very cool. Give Rizzo time his moves look good. Notice 2/3 of Eaton deal incubating with McCatty in charlotte?
Luke. Read this with humor. The real definition of the 7 day DL list ?
Kelvin G style ? Joey Butler style ?
      Experimental marriage separation
Elizabeth Taylor style like Kyle Turnbull??
      Amber alert on Kelvin G?
Luke matinee game with my canine who walks more than Brian Goodwin !!!
Interesting to see how BA this winter fills out their proverbial
      Nationals lineup 2019??!!!
