Short look for Simonetti after Corredor the march surprise making
Hagerstown and Nats drafting Cramer and Scudder
JD Martin and Juan Soto in play with
GCL today.
GREAT news that Soto has surfaced. No need to rush him back, though.
It’s worth mentioning that the pitcher who spearheaded the GCL Mets meltdown was Daniel Bard, former shutdown Red Sox reliever. It’s incredible how far he’s fallen, and how he’s pulled a second coming of Rick Ankiel and has forgotten how to throw a baseball. Unfortunately for Bard, he can’t hit like Ankiel….
0.2 IP (and only because of a fortuitous GIDP), 5 BB, 3 wild pitches and 4 ER. Bard now hasn’t posted an ERA below 10.38 at any level since 2013. I admire his commitment, but he’s now got 24 BB in 9 innings this year, 13 BB in 3 IP last year, 9 BB in 0.2 in 2014, 27 BB in 15 IP in 2013, and that doesn’t even count the 16 hit batters…. his stats are unbelievable: http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=453268#/career/R/pitching/2017/ALL
It’s the first time I can accurately claim that I’d be better than a professional baseball player.
Yeah, very quick hook for Simonetti. He was only hitting .160 this year, but they generally give guys more than just one year, even with struggles (Kierian, Ripken, et al.) You always suspect “work ethic” or “makeup” issues when the ax falls that early, but we’ll never know. With his power, he might get a shot elsewhere before the dream completely dies.
Very good to see a strong showing by Weston Davis at Auburn. He had been knocked around a bit in his one GCL start. I assume Baez is also on a rehab assignment with GCL?
Tough-luck loss for Sterling Sharp, who continues to be impressive overall. There seems to be some termites in the bat rack at Hags, with Perkins down to .259 and Banks to .227.
Jake Barnett to hags later this summer if he keeps up consistency?
The Reds did draft Simonetti out of HS. .
Nice walk off tonight by Raburn
Add Elvis Alvarado and his long swing to the short hook list .
Short swings avoid short hook lists ? Lol
