The RailRiders scored 11 times before the Chiefs could answer as they stopped a two-game win streak cold with a 12-3 smackdown. Greg Ross got hammered again, giving up seven runs on eight hits and a walk over just an inning and a 1/3rd to lose his third AAA game of ’17. Brandon Snyder homered, walked, and pitched a scoreless 9th inning to lead the Syracuse offense and matched Rafael Martin and Neal Cotts as each put up a goose eggs in relief.

Rain washed out Game Two of the Thunder-Senators series. They’ll shoot to make it up today with a doubleheader.

Potomac exploded for six runs with two out in the 3rd while two pitchers combined on a six-hit shutout to take the opener from Salem, 6-0. Wirkin “For the Weekend” Estevez evened up his won-loss record at 2-2 with six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out seven. Ronald Pena cordero’d his way around a hit and two walks in the 7th to preserve the shutout. Taylor Gushue smacked a three-run HR, his 11th, while Rhett Wiseman added a two-run double to highlight the P-Nats attack.

Salem 3 Potomac 2 – GAME TWO

Salem posted a picket fence in the middle innings and held off a late charge from Potomac to take the nightcap, 3-2 and split the doubleheader. Hector Silvestre suffered the loss with all three Red Sox runs charged to him on five hits and two walks. Gilberto Mendez finished with two scoreless to keep it close. Edwin Lora led off the 7th with a single, took third on Matt Page’s one-out single, and scored on Jake Lowery’s sac fly. Victor Robles connected for his second single to push Page into scoring position but the P-Nats fell short for fifth time in five tries with a RISP as Jack Sundberg watched strike three go by to end the game.

Sterling Sharp rebounded to spin five innings of two-run ball and win his first game of the season as the Suns burned the Tourists, 9-5 in the series opener. Sharp gave up seven hits, two walks, and struck out four. Oliver Ortiz singled, doubled, and drove in three to lead Hagerstown’s 11-hit parade. Roster moves: Carter Kieboom placed on the 7-Day DL; SS Tyler Beckwith assigned to Hagerstown from XST.
