• Goodwin 2-4, R, HR, RBI

Same s!@#, different level for Joe Ross, who was hammered like a Kennedy at an open bar in Syracuse’s 9-3 loss to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Ross gave up seven runs on eight hits, including two two-run homers that bookended his five-inning outing. He walked two and struck out four. Brian Goodwin and Brandon homered to account for all three Chiefs runs on an eight-hit, three-walk offensive output. Roster move: RHP Cody Satterwhite assigned from Washington.

Erick Fedde rebounded for a quality start of three runs (two earned) on five hits (one longball) and two walks while fanning four over seven innings. Phillips Valdez ran aground for three runs on three hits and a walk in the 8th for the blown-save-loss. Drew Ward singled once and doubled twice while Alec Keller reached base three times to lead the Harrisburg offense.

• Sundberg 1-3, BB
• Mejia 1-3

Wirkin Estevez went the distance but the Potomac offense was shut out, 3-0 by Lynchburg in the opener. “For the Weekend” went a season-high seven innings and allowed all three Hillcat runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five, but lost for the second time this season. The P-Nats managed three hits and four walks and were 0-for-7 with RISP, leaving eight runners on base.

The Hillcats wasted no time putting this one away, scoring four in the 1st and two in the 2nd as they cruised to an 11-3 win and a doubleheader sweep of the P-Nats. Luis Reyes was strafed for eight runs on eight hits and two walks over three an a 1/3rd innings to lose for the fifth time in six starts. The lack of depth at the highest minor league levels is obvious. As injuries pile up on the MLB roster, fear that this lack of depth is going to impact the MLB record. So far it hasn’t, but we shall what happens over the season.

Congrats to A.J. Cole for finally getting to 50 IP and “graduating” from prospect status last night, more than two years after he made his MLB debut. I noticed that MLB.com replaced him and added Lora back near the bottom of the list almost immediately after the game last night.

Assuming Glover is activated soon, he’ll also graduate pretty quickly as he is pretty close to having 45 days of non-September active service time. It will be interesting to see who replaces him on the list. McKensie Mills and Gushue would seem to be the two most deserving candidates.

Daniel Johnson continues to rake, his OPS is a robust .955. Hope he gets to Potomac before his birthday (July).
On the other hand, Perkins hasn’t hit in quite awhile, his numbers are dropping fast.
What to make of the catcher moves in Hagerstown? I need help on this one.

Best guess… Reetz is now healthy, Barrera allegedly has a hand injury, but I don’t think he would have been starting, much less on the Suns roster had Reetz been healthy; Tillero was placed on the R.L. in lieu of being released outright, Reistetter was activated to take Barrera’s place.

Glad to see Reetz back. He was my pick to click among the non-first tier prospects this year.

    Soto needs to come back!
