The Syracuse bullpen gave up four in the 9th to turn a one-run game into a 6-2 loss to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Austin Voth lost for the fourth time with two runs allowed on seven hits and a walk over five and 2/3rds innings while striking out five. Matt Skole remains hot in the month of May (.828 OPS) with a 3-for-4 mark including a double and a home run. Likewise for Adrian Sanchez (.393 BA) who also went 3-for-4. Roster move: LHP Matt Grace recalled to Washington.

The Thunder struck for two in the 2nd and made it stand up for a 2-1 win over the Senators. Mark Blackmar suffered the loss with both runs allowed on three hits and a walk over five innings. Phillips Valdez tossed a scoreless inning in the 6th to keep things close. Raudy Read went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Harrisburg offense.

Drew Ward’s two-run HR broke a 3-3 tie as the Senators split the doubleheader with a 6-4 win in the second game. John Simms got the start but was knocked around for three runs on two home runs and four walks over four innings. The win went to Jimmy Cordero who was dinged for homer too in his lone inning of work. Wander Suero earned his fifth save with two scoreless innings. Spencer Kieboom also homered while Alec Keller doubled and tripled to pace the Sens attack. Roster move: OF Zach Collier placed on the 7-Day DL.

Potomac chased the Salem starter after just three innings but couldn’t score against the Red Sox bullpen in a 5-2 loss. Jefry Rodriguez was charged with all five runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings. Sam Held lived up to his surname with four scoreless while Mariano Rivera III added goose egg in the 9th but the offense was stuck in neutral, going 2-for-14 with RISP and stranding 14 baserunners. Victor Robles reached base three times with a single, a double, and… wait for it… a hit by pitch while Kelvin Gutierrez went 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Hagerstown 2 Asheville 1

Tyler Beckwith’s HR in the 6th got the Suns on the board while Dan Johnson’s 9th-inning HR gave them the lead that (*gasp*) the bullpen held for a 2-1 win. McKenzie Mills went the first five and 2/3rds, letting in the Tourists’ run on seven hits and a walk with three whiffs. Steven Fuentes closed out the game with three and a 1/3rd scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and no walks and also fanning three. Johnson also singled twice and Beckwith once to combine for five of the seven Hagerstown hits.
