Syracuse vs. Rochester – PPD
Yesterday’s tilt between the Chiefs and Red Wings was rained out. They’ll try to make it up today with a doubleheader.
Harrisburg 7 Bowie 4

Harrisburg exploded for six runs in the 5th and cruised to a 7-4 win over Bowie in the series finale. Greg Ross got the Jack Morris win with all four Baysox runs allowed on eight hits and two walks while striking out three. Phillips Valdez and Wander Suero each turned in two scoreless to earn the hold and save, respectively. Raudy Read singled and homered while Zach Collier doubled twice to lead the Sens’ 12-hit, seven-walk offense.
Wilmington 6 Potomac 3

• Guilbeau 3⅓ IP, 2H, 0R, BB, 3K
• Gutierrez 3-4, R, RBI
• Davidson 2-4, 2B, BB
Joan Baez was off again Last Night in Woodbridge.
Delmarva 6 Hagerstown 0

• Bourque 3IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Franco 2-4
The Suns outhit the Shorebirds, 9-7, but were shut out 6-0. Weston Davis was dinged for all six runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. James Borque followed with three perfect innings of relief. Anderson Franco was the sole batter to reach base twice as Hagerstown did not draw a walk and was 1-for-9 with RISP, the “one” coming in the 3rd inning with Daniel Johnson connecting for a third straight single but Franco getting thrown out at home.
Is Phillips Valdez being moved to the bullpen permanently?
He was starting for most of his career and his stuff by all accounts is electric.
Moving him to relief diminishes his value at this point.
Hard to say if it’s permanent, but I’d agree it’s not a promising sign.
The Nats need for relievers far outweighs their need for SP depth at this point. If Valdez does well in his new role, he could end up in DC by late summer.
Thanks guys. He was the one I was most worried about losing in Rule V.
I wonder if Raudy Read keeps playing well; will the White Sox would take him in a trade for Robertson.
