Syracuse – OFF DAY
Yesterday was the final scheduled off day for Syracuse as the Chiefs close out the season with 29 games in 28 days. They’re currently on a three-game slide, which has reduced their tragic nos. to nine for the division and 11 for the wild card.
Harrisburg – OFF DAY
The second-place Senators visit the first-place Curve for three games starting tonight. Harrisburg trails Altoona by 1½ games but leads Akron by ½ games in the E.L. playoff race.
Potomac – OFF DAY
Division-leading Potomac leads runner-up (and first-half champ) Lynchburg by four games with six games left between the two teams: three starting tonight in Woodbridge, three more on August 26-28. The P-Nats are on a five-game winning streak and, like the Sens, have a comfortable lead over the next team in the playoff chase as they lead the Keys by nine games in the second-half race. Roster moves: RHP Jorge Pantoja promoted from Hagerstown.

The Suns dropped their third straight with an 8-4 loss to the Intimidators. James Bourque turned in a subpar start of three runs on nine hits and a walk. He struck out three while losing his fifth game. Kannapolis lapped Jake Johansen and Robbie Dickey for five more runs, including two in the 9th to put the game away. Narciso Mesa singled, doubled, and walked to lead the Hagerstown offense, which collected seven hits and drew four walks. Roster moves: RHP J.D. Martin reassigned from the GCL; RHP Robbie Dickey activated from the 7-Day DL; RHP Pedro Avila placed on the 7-Day DL.

NYPL All-Star Tyler Watson struck out a career-high eight in a 1-0 Auburn loss to Batavia. The 19-y.o. escaped the curse of the GBI with six shutout innings, allowing two hit and a walk. Kyle Simonds followed with two perfect innings of relief. The loss went to Samuel Held, who was touched for the game winner on three hits in the 9th. Oliver Ortiz singled twice while Paul Panaccione singled once to account for the Chiefs Doubledays’ three hits. Auburn OF Nick Banks and RHP Weston Davis were also named to the NYPL All-Star game to be held next Tuesday in Hudson Valley.
