Back-to-back homers to open the 5th by Rochester erased an early 2-1 lead as they went on to hand the Chiefs yet another loss, 5-2. Austin Voth served up three homers total and was charged with four runs on six hit and three walks to lose for the third time in four starts. Bryan Harper followed with an inning and 2/3rds of scoreless relief but it was for naught as the Syracuse offense continues to sputter. Trea Turner and Christopher Bostick scored both runs and combined for three of four hits, with Bostick connecting for the only extra-base hit, a double in the 2nd.

Harrisburg saw early leads of 2-0 and 6-3 go poof in a 12-10 slugfest loss to Reading. Philips Valdez couldn’t make it out of the 1st as he retired just two of eight batters faced. He gave up three runs on four hits and two walks. John Simms left the bases loaded but was knocked for five runs over the next two innings to suffer the loss. Drew Ward led the comeback bids with two singles and two doubles and drove in three, followed by Nick Rickles (3-for-4) and Wilmer Difo (3-for-6).

Rain chased away both starters after one inning, but the P-Nats were able to hold the early two-run lead they took in the 1st and hold on for a 5-3 win. Gilberto Mendes got the win in relief as he turned in four and 2/3rds scoreless innings with just two hits and no walks allowed and four whiffs. R.C. Orlan closed out the game with two goose eggs, walking two and striking out three for his ninth save. Max “For Those About To” Schrock extended his hit streak to eight with a double while Jose “Orange” Marmolejos led the hit column with a pair of singles and an RBI.

Delmarva put up two big innings in the 5th and 7th innings as they shut out Hagerstown in the series finale, 7-0. Jefry Rodriguez lost for the fourth time as he let in four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four. The Suns offense was limited to five hits and one walk, with Edwin Lora the sole batter to reach base twice with a single and a double.

Weston Davis allowed both West Virginia hits in the first five innings for the win, his second. Three relievers combined for near-perfect relief over the next four frames, led by Russell Harmening with two perfect innings. David Kerian drove in four runs while going 4-for-6 with a double, followed by Nick Banks’ three plated with three scores on… wait for it… three hits, as Auburn pounded out 18 hits and drew five walks.* OK, fine: technically it’s Granville, WV, but you know: poetic license #kthxbai
