Just want to double down on just how good Pedro Avila has been.

He went from dominating the DSL last season in his first professional season, to getting a THREE level promotion to Hagerstown this season, and has continued to dominate. It’s crazy that the Nats decided that he could skip two levels (GCL and NYPL), but I can’t complain, as it’s worked out really well.

We like to talk about how young Robles is, but Avila is the same age, and has been just as successful as Robles at the same level.

Last start was the first time Avila pitched into the 6th inning. I can’t wait to see how he fares when the Nats loosen the reins on him next season.

Voth has been moved to the “Temporarily Inactive List” at Syracuse, with Giolito added to the roster. The more exciting speculation would be that Voth is checking out as part of a trade. The less exciting would be that Voth just pitched, Giolito is only going to be there for one start, and they’ll reactivate Voth after Giolito blows through town. The big club doesn’t need a fifth starter until a week from today, so the timing would fit.

I’ll bet the less exciting speculation is the accurate speculation. I don’t see a deal being made until closer to the deadline, especially since there will likely be a bidding war for the most desirable players.

DSL really young with that recent
Latin july 2 deadline haul joining
    Next spring
Rosa still a stud along with numerous young guys who have not hit all six cylinders yet .
