Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 5 Syracuse 0
• Hill (L, 3-7) 3⅔ IP, 7H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 3K
• Harper 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Lombardozzi 1-4, 2B
• Goodwin 1-4, OF assist at HP
The Syracuse offense was AWOL (four hits total) while Taylor Hill was knocked around early in a 5-0 loss. Trea Turner fielded both balls hit his way in CF, which was his first professional appearance in the outfield.
Bowie 10 Harrisburg 1
• Brady (L, 1-1) 4IP, 5H, 4R, 3ER, 0BB, 2K
• Brinley 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Bautista 1-4, 2B
• Ballou 2-3, R, 2B, HR, RBI
Isaac Ballou’s HR prevented the shutout as Bowie knifed Harrisburg, 10-1 in the series opener. Rafael Bautista shifted to RF in favor of new Sens CF Andrew Stevenson and made two fielding errors.
Potomac 5 Winston-Salem 1
• Fedde (W, 4-3) 5IP, 5H, R, ER, BB, 3K, HR
• Estevez 2IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 1K
• Keller 2-4, R, 2B, HR, 2RBI
• Read 2-4, 2R, 2B
• Vettleson 1-3, 2B, 2RBI
Rain delayed the start of this by nearly an hour but the P-Nats wasted little time in dispatching the Dash, 5-1. Both Victor Robles and Max Schrock went 2-for-4 in their High-A debut but neither scored a run.
Lakewood 6 Hagerstown 5
• DeRosier 5IP, 5H, R, ER, 0BB, 2K
• VanVossen (BS, 1; L, 1-2) 2IP, 7H, 5R, 4ER, 0BB, 1K, HR
• Sagdal 2-4, R, 3B, RBI
• Agustin 1-3, R, BB, HR, 2RBI
The BlueClaws pinched Mick VanVossen for five runs in the 8th and 9th innings to eclipse the Suns, 6-5. Randy Encarnacion went 0-for-5 in his Low-A debut.
Williamsport 5 Auburn 0
• W. Davis (L, 1-1) 5IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, BB, 0K
• Mooney 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Johnson 1-3
• Perkins 0-3, BB
Williamsport’s Adonis Medina nearly no-hit Auburn with both Blake Perkins’s walk and Dan Johnson coming with one out in the 9th. Perkins and Johnson would be stranded as Sheldon Neuse and Ryan Ripken were easily dispatched by Crosscutters fireman Jeff Singer to complete the 5-0 shutout.
Luke, did you wait out the rain delay at Potomac? If so, any first impressions of Robles and Schrock? I hope to make it out to see them sooner or later. Every report on Robles in his last stop seemed to include the comment “clearly the best player on the field.” I wonder whether that still holds true in the Carolina League at barely 19.
No luck. But I’ve seen Robles before so I can say that the excitement is warranted.
OK. We’ll look forward to your take when you do get a look. As noted, I hope to make it out to see him myself at some point.
Luke, have you heard any more information about signings of draft picks?
A side thought. Encarnacion to hagerstown
Speaks to the confidence in Patrick Anderson ‘s
Handling / molding of young players .
Lost in all the promotions is the slow
Progression of the Roll Tide lefty @ Hagerstown
In the wake of Crownover bumped up
And a DH starter needed.
As an ole expo fan. There is tad of Marquis
Grissom in Victor.
Bacus suspended ??
My Trojan alum bumped up to hagerstown
Will he ever return to switch hitting as he did
@ USC?
More ABs for Jeffries now @ Auburn
