Indianapolis 2 Syracuse 1
• Hill (L, 3-5) 6IP, 9H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 5K
• Gutierrez 1IP, 1H, 0R, IBB, 2K
• Ramsey 1-4, R, HR, RBI, OF assist at 3B
• Solano 2-2, 2BB
• 0-6 RISP, 11 LOB

Caleb Ramsey’s solo HR in the 8th broke up the Indians’ shutout bid as the Chiefs were clipped, 2-1. Taylor Hill kept the ball in the yard, scattering nine hits over six innings of two-run ball. He walked none and struck out five while losing his fifth decision. Matt Belisle failed to record a 1-2-3 inning again but kept Indianapolis off the board as did J.C. Gutierrez as each turned in a scoreless inning. Jhonatan Solano singled twice and walked twice to lead the seven-hit, six-walk Syracuse offense.

Harrisburg 11 Akron 2
• Simms 3⅔ IP, 5H, R, ER, BB, 3K, HBP, E
• Brady (W, 1-0) 2⅓ IP, 3H, R, ER, 0BB, 2K; 2-0 IR-S
• Ballou 2-3, 2R, SF, 3RBI
• Soto 3-5, 2R, HR, 3RBI
• Bautista 3-5, 2R, SB(31), CS(6)

Harrisburg relievers combined for a two-run bullpen job while the hitters ducked up Akron pitchers for 14 hits in an 11-2 demolition. John Simms made the spot start and let in one run on five hits and a walk while fanning three. Michael Brady was credited with the win with the second run on three hits over two and a 1/3rd innings. Isaac Ballou, Neftali Soto, and Christopher Bostick each drove in three runs while Soto and Rafael Bautista each had three hits. Every position player reached base while beers were on Kevin Keyes as the only Senator to go hitless.

Frederick 2 Potomac 0 – GAME ONE
• Williams (L, 0-1) 7IP, 6H, 2R, 2ER, BB, 6K
• Marmolejos 1-3, 2B
• Keller 1-3, 2B

In the opener, the Keys locked down the P-Nats for a 2-0 shutout. Austen Williams pitched well enough to win, with two runs allowed on six hits and a walk over seven innings while setting down six on strikes for a complete-game loss in his return to High-A. The offense was AWOL with just three hits – an Andrew Stevenson double off the glove of the Frederick CF, an error ruled as an infield double when the Keys 3B dropped a popup, and a double peeled to left-center by Jose “Orange” Marmolejos.

Frederick 3 Potomac 0 – GAME TWO
• Spann (L, 1-1) 3IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 5K, WP
• Sanchez 2IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Carey 2-2
• Norfork 1-2

Frederick shut out Potomac, 3-0 in the nightcap to sweep the doubleheader and pull into a tie for second place in the C.L. North. Matt Spann got the spot start and was knocked for two runs on five hits and two walks over three innings to take the loss. That was more than enough to win as the P-Nats only mustered just four hits and one walk, with Daly Carey leading the way with two singles in two trips to the plate.

Lexington 8 Hagerstown 5
• Baez (L, 2-5) 3IP, 6H, 5R, 4ER, BB, 6K
• Torres 3IP, 2H, 0R, BB, K
• Agustin 2-3, R, 3B, HR, BB, 2RBI
• Lora 2-4, 2R
• Schrock 2-4, R, RBI

The Suns jumped out to a 3-0 lead which the Legends erased with a five-run 3rd and held on for an 8-5 win. Joan Baez continues to struggle, failing to go four or more innings for the fourth time in six starts in his fifth loss. He was pounded for five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk over three innings. Telmito Agustin tripled, homered, and drove in two to lead the Hagerstown offense.
Roster moves: 3b Kelvin Gutierrez placed on the 7-Day DL; IF Grant DeBruin reassigned from Auburn.

DSL Update
The D-Nats started up this past week and fell in line the with .500 mark (3-3) that’s all the rage in the Nationals farm these days (OK, fine just Syracuse and Potomac; win some, lose some). Folks looking for a lot of new names will be sorely disappointed, as nine of the 12 pitchers to have pitched and six of the 12 position players to have batted thus far are holdovers from the 2015 team.
