A.J. Cole turned in his strongest start of the season thus far while Trea Turner and Brian Goodwin both homered as the Chiefs defeated the Mud Hens, 8-1 to take the series 2-1. The 24-y.o. tossed seven innings of one-run ball on just three hits and a walk while tying his strikeout high of eight for his sixth win. Koda Glover and Sam Runion each followed with a perfect innings to close out the game. Turner was a single shy of the cycle and also drew a walk to reach base four times to lead Syracuse’s 11-hit parade.

Tyler Mapes reverted to Pitcher of the Week form with another complete game in a 3-1 Harrisburg win over New Hampshire. Mapes allowed the unearned run on eight hits and a walk while fanning four. He threw 111 pitches, 75 for strikes. The Sens got single runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 9th with Neftali Soto leading the hit column with a single and two doubles and Adrian Sanchez matching his five total bases with a double and a triple.

The P-Nats clawed the Hillcats in each of the first four innings to build a 7-0 lead and cruised to a 7-1 win to complete the three-game sweep. Luis Reyes got his fourth win with six innings of one-run ball on four hits and two walks while striking out two. Justin Thomas got the save with three scoreless innings. Andrew Stevenson scored three times while Jose “Orange” Marmolejos drove in three; both went 2-for-5 to pace the Potomac offense. Hagerstown rallied for five in the 9th to turn a 9-7 deficit into a 12-9 win and sweep Lexington. James Bourque continues to “work on stuff,” as he was dinged for five runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. The Suns lineup pounded out 14 hits and drew 12 walks, led by Ian Sagdal (single, double, triple) Cody Dent (4) respectively. Philip Walby got the win in relief with one run let in over two innings while Jorge Pantoja pitched a scoreless 9th to earn the save.

Yonathan Ramirez improved to 2-0 with five scoreless innings, giving up three hits and a walk while notching two K’s. Steven Fuentes closed out the game with three donuts to earn his second save. Dan Johnson singled, scored a run, and drove in a run on a sac fly while Luis Vilorio walked, singled, and stole a base as the Doubledays squeezed three runs out of just five hits and two walks.
