A three-spot in the 7th broke open a 3-2 game as Syracuse took another game from Norfolk, 6-2. Taylor Hill got the win, his second, with five and 2/3rds innings of two-run ball on four hits and a walks with six whiffs. J.C. Gutierrez stranded two in the 6th and pitched a scoreless 7th to earn the hold. Brian Goodwin led the Chiefs’ hit column with three singles to push his batting average to a team-best .324 while Matt Skole drove in two to tie Goodwin for the team lead in RBI with 24.

Lucas Giolito ran out of gas in the 5th, but left with a 3-2 lead. The Sens ‘pen combined for four perfect innings while the offense tacked on an insurance run in the 8th to double up BaySox, 4-2. Giolito gave up both Bowie runs on five hits, including a leadoff HR in his final frame, two walks and struck out five to win his second game. Andrew Robinson retired all six batters he faced, while Derek Self and Bryan Harper each had 1-2-3 innings. Spencer Kieboom and Wilmer Difo both reach base three times to lead the Harrisburg ten-hit, four-walk offense.

Frederick posted a picket fence against Wirkin Estevez and Potomac for a 4-3 win in the series opener. “For the Weekend” retired the side in the 1st but gave up single runs over the next four innings on seven hits and no walks to lose for the third time. Dakota Bacus locked it down for the next three innings, but the P-Nats offense couldn’t strike the decisive blow as they left runners on in the 6th and 7th and hit into inning-ending double plays in the 8th and 9th. Dale Carey singled four times in four trips to the plate while Alec Keller drove in two on a solo HR in the 2nd and groundout in the 8th.
Roster moves: 3B Drew Ward placed on the 7-Day DL; IF Grant DeBruin recalled from XST.

Greensboro vs. Hagerstown – PPD
Rain washed out Game Two of the four-game series between the Suns and the ‘Hoppers. They’ll try to make it up today with a twi-night doubleheader.
