Syracuse dug out of an early 2-0 lead with a pair of crooked numbers in the 3rd and 4th innings and cruised to an 8-4 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Starter A.J. Cole lasted just two innings, pulled after 61 pitches with just 34 going for strikes as he was knocked for single runs in both frames on four hits and three walks while striking out two. Aaron Laffey led a quartet of relievers who held the RailRiders to two runs the rest of the way. Trea Turner was a triple shy of the cycle as he went 3-for-4 with 3RBI along with a walk and a stolen base to lead the Chiefs offense.

Reynaldo Lopez took the loss, giving up two runs on two solo HRs and four hits total over six innings. He walked one and fanned five. A good day in the Minors. Turner can keep simmering for another month and a half, as long as the Nats keep winning. Orange and Drew Ward give hope at the start, and Victor Robles still has an excellent game when his exploits aren’t enough to make the summary.
Turner is merely batting .500–imagine what he’ll do when the weather warms up! 🙂
If they wait til the end of this month, they can bring Turner up without cutting a year off the control/arbitration period. They’d have to hold him in the minors a while longer to avoid Super Two status and bringing on arbitration a year earlier, but I’m not sure how much they care about that. Will they wait til late May or June if Espinosa is still batting blow the Mendoza line (and if MAT is still struggling in lead off and Revere is delayed coming back?
Luke. Are the guys on XST like DeBruin
Davidson Wooten etc waiting on an injury
Or promotion or ?!!??
Assuming, of course, they haven’t been released. Remember, MiLB.com has this lovely habit of not reporting releases unless the guys were active.
