The Chiefs scored once in the 1st and twice in the 2nd and cruised to a 3-1 win over the PawSox. A.J. Cole bounced back from getting smelted by the IronPigs with six shutout innings, allowing four hits and two walks with two whiffs on just 85 pitches. Rafael Martin worked around a single in the 9th with a popup and two strikeouts for his third save. Rehabbing Ben Revere was sterling with two singles and a run scored while Matt Skole led the Syracuse hit column with three singles in four at at-bats.
Roster move: C Nick Rickles assigned from XST.

Hartford vs. Harrisburg – PPD
Rain washed out the finale of the “road” series between Hartford and Harrisburg. No word on when it will be made up (or where).

Myrtle Beach vs. Potomac – PPD
Likewise, the combination of wet grounds and continual drizzle sent the Pelicans home early. They’ll try to make it up with a doubleheader on Thursday, June 16th.

Asheville 6 Hagerstown 5 – SUSP., 5 inn.
• DeRosier 3⅓ IP, 11H, 6R, 3ER, 2BB, 4K
• Crownover 1⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K, 2-0 IR-S
• Schrock 3-3, 2R, RBI
• Gutierrez 2-3, R, 2B, SB
• Page 2-3, R, 2RBI

The lights went out on the Tourists and Suns, forcing the game to be suspended after five full with the score 6-5 in favor of Asheville. Matt DeRosier got the start but was strafed for six runs (three earned) on 11 hits and two walks over three and a 1/3rd inning. Hagerstown changed the Matt from DeRosier to Crownover, who stranded two in the 4th by rolling a double play and got three flyouts in the 5th. Kelvin Gutierrez extended his hit streak to nine with his third straight multi-hit game, and combined with Max Schrock, Matt Page, and Ian Sagdal for all eight Suns hits.

Have to admit, I have no idea who Nick Rickles is.

Former Oakland farmhand who missed all of 2014 and only played 59 games last year. Career OPS of .649–in other words, no one to do cartwheels over.

Happy that Cole finally had a decent outing, but 2 Ks in 6 innings still isn’t great.

And after having gone to see the big club yesterday all I can say is, oh man, I’m glad to see that Revere is finally rehabbing. He is (ahem) sorely needed in DC.

Skole busts through the Mendoza line! Meanwhile, Goodwin is cruising at .350. At what point does he warrant a look by the big club if both Taylor and den Dekker (not to mention Werth) continue to struggle?

Ian Sagdal has been lost somewhat in Schrock’s shadow, but he’s hitting .383. Not bad for a 16th rounder. Hmm, MiLB.com has Sagdal listed at 6’3″, 190, but his Wash. State bio from last season has him at 6’1″, 175. Draw your own conclusions!

Goodwin’s problem right now: 0 HRs and only 2 SBs. Coming off the bench as a pinch hitter, den Dekker and Taylor are still a threat to go deep, and they offer as much or more speed on the basepaths.

Yes, I’ve lamented Goodwin’s lack of power development. I’m not saying that his promotion will happen, just that it might get some consideration since his average currently is about what MAT and MdD have put together. Plus Goodwin is already on the 40-man.

Per Byron Kerr, Koda Glover promoted to AA.

Can we choke him , Luke ??? Lol!!!

In the offseason, I predicted Glover as the stealth candidate to make a run all the way to the majors in 2016. He’s done nothing thus far to disprove my theory.

Not being on the 40-man would seem to be his only impediment. Otherwise, if he continues to mow ’em down I could see him getting a September call up at a minimum.

For the commenter out there who keeps asking about Matthew Spann, Kerr has also tweeted that Spann is joining the P-Nats.
