Nats Hook Marlins, 7-4
The Nats rallied for three in 3rd and added two more in the 4th as they took their third straight spring training game, 7-4 over the Marlins yesterday afternoon.
Joe Ross got the start and let in the first two Miami runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four over two and 2/3rds innings. Wander Suero stranded two while getting the third out of the 3rd and was awarded the “W.” Jonathan Papelbon was credited with the save as he set down the side in order in the 9th.
Clint Robinson drove in three runs with a two-run homer in the 3rd and an RBI single in the 4th to lead the Nats offense. Pedro Severino started at catcher and was 2-for-2 with a single and a double and two runs runs scored.
Here’s a rundown of how the watchlist minor-leaguers did during the game:
• Brian Goodwin subbed for Bryce Harer in RF and went 0-for-1 with a strikeout
• Matt Skole followed Tyler Moore at 1B and was 0-for-1
• Trea Turner pinch-ran for Stephen Drew but did not score
• Raudy Read replaced Severino at catcher and went 0-for-1 with an RBI on a sac fly
The Nats hit the buses for a trip to Kissimmee to face the Astros this afternoon. Max Scherzer is expected to make the start with the game broadcast on both MLB.tv and MLB audio (away feed for both).
I don’t envy brass with the roster cuts later in March.
Right Gil Grissom??
Thankfully, Severino And Kieboom have been looking good so far.
Mark L you in viera ?
Jeff, only in my dreams.
I couldn’t help using the term ‘looking’ considering that we’re not allowed to watch them on TV.
Has anybody noticed that PTBNL in the Yunel trade? He closed the 9th today. Name’s Brady, a converted infielder.
