The wheels came off the bus in the 6th as the IronPigs scored five unearned runs to break a 3-3 deadlock and win, 8-3. Taylor Hill went the first five innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four. The loss went to Sam Runion, who struck out two, walked a batter, hit a batter, and allowed two hits — including a grand slam — in his lone inning of work. Caleb Ramsey, Scott Sizemore, and Matt Skole each singled twice as the Chiefs collected seven hits total (Ricky Hague pinch-hit double).

Harrisburg 6 Richmond 5

The Senators twice rallied for three runs as they took the series opener from the Flying Squirrels, 6-5. Tanner Roark was on the mound first and left after two innings and 34 pitches, with one run let in on two hits, no walks, and two strikeouts. The originally scheduled starter Colin Bates followed and was the pitcher of record when Harrisburg took the lead, thus was the winner despite four runs allowed on six hits (two homers) and two walks over four innings. Adrian Sanchez doubled twice, walked once, and scored twice to lead the Sens offense.
Roster move: RHP Tanner Roark reassigned from Potomac; RHP John Simms placed on the 3-Day TIL.

A 4-1 lead was too small for the Hagerstown ‘pen to hold as they gave up five runs late in a 6-4 loss, the fourth straight for the Suns. Connor Bach started and let in three runs on five hits over five innings in a no-decision. Tommy Peterson suffered the blown-save-loss with two runs charged on three hits and a walk over two innings. Matthew Page led the hit column a 3-for-4 night, followed by Bryan Mejia’s single and triple in four trips to the plate.
