Lehigh Valley 8 Syracuse 3

• Runion (L, 1-3) 1IP, 2H, 5R, 0ER, 1BB, 2K, HR(GS), HBP
• Ramsey 2-3
• Skole 2-4, 2RBI
The wheels came off the bus in the 6th as the IronPigs scored five unearned runs to break a 3-3 deadlock and win, 8-3. Taylor Hill went the first five innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four. The loss went to Sam Runion, who struck out two, walked a batter, hit a batter, and allowed two hits — including a grand slam — in his lone inning of work. Caleb Ramsey, Scott Sizemore, and Matt Skole each singled twice as the Chiefs collected seven hits total (Ricky Hague pinch-hit double).
Harrisburg 6 Richmond 5
• Roark 2IP, 2H, R, ER, 0BB, 2K

• Corona 2-4, R, 2B
• Pleffner 2-4
The Senators twice rallied for three runs as they took the series opener from the Flying Squirrels, 6-5. Tanner Roark was on the mound first and left after two innings and 34 pitches, with one run let in on two hits, no walks, and two strikeouts. The originally scheduled starter Colin Bates followed and was the pitcher of record when Harrisburg took the lead, thus was the winner despite four runs allowed on six hits (two homers) and two walks over four innings. Adrian Sanchez doubled twice, walked once, and scored twice to lead the Sens offense.
Roster move: RHP Tanner Roark reassigned from Potomac; RHP John Simms placed on the 3-Day TIL.
Potomac — OFF DAY
After the final scheduled off day on Monday, Potomac closes out the 2015 season with three against playoff-bound Myrtle Beach and four against Salem.
Roster move: RHP Manny Rodriguez activated from the 7-Day DL.
Kannapolis 6 Hagerstown 4
• Bach 5IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 6K

• Page 3-4, RBI, SB(5)
• Mejia 2-4, R, 3B, RBI
A 4-1 lead was too small for the Hagerstown ‘pen to hold as they gave up five runs late in a 6-4 loss, the fourth straight for the Suns. Connor Bach started and let in three runs on five hits over five innings in a no-decision. Tommy Peterson suffered the blown-save-loss with two runs charged on three hits and a walk over two innings. Matthew Page led the hit column a 3-for-4 night, followed by Bryan Mejia’s single and triple in four trips to the plate.
Roster moves: Jefry Rodriguez reassigned from Auburn; RHP Luis Reyes reassigned GCL Nationals.
Williamsport 12 Auburn 2
• Borne (L, 1-4) 5IP, 6H, 4R, 3ER, BB, 2K
• Gutierrez 2-4, E(20)
• Robles 1-3, R, HBP
Williamsport scored 12 unanswered runs for a 12-2 smackdown of Auburn. Grant Borne was the starter and the losing pitcher, giving up four runs on six hits and a walk while fanning two over five innings. Kelvin Gutierrez singled twice while Anderson Franco walked twice as the Doubledays managed just five hits total on offense.
Robles lives! Glad to see he’s back in action. Anderson Franco seems to know how to take a walk, which Mejia (three years older) still can’t figure out how to do.
Meiija has an inner jose Vidro
Loss to cards irks me due to ex brave putting the knife in
Mejia’s walking is the least of our concerns. You can learn to walk a lot easier than learn to hit , and in his case learn to hit triples. I wonder if the triples reflect the kind of game speed that with a good instructional league, perhaps he can learn to be a far more successful base stealer.
respectfully disagree that you can teach everyone to walk. pitch recognition is a skill that many never master and higher level pitchers will exploit the weakness
Look @ some of the guys Walt Hriniak tutored
What 3b11 said…by the stats Mejia has the worst plate discipline I have ever seen. There is a very good reason why MLB.com has not placed him on the list of the Nats top 30 prospects despite his excellent batting average and OPS.
The bible of mlb is touting such luminaries as Jake Johanssen and Brian Goodwin. Evidently they do appreciate walks of both of those shiny objects.
One last hags outing for Jefry Rod
Read between the lines , folks !!
Lol
GG
I appreciate your response 3b11, but a guy hitting so many XBH is not just seeing pitches, he is clobbering them. Let me not discount your point, though. He has to improve that aspect of his game. But you can’t get extra base hit after XBH without seeing pitches.
As soon as Mejia begins facing better pitchers that bother with scouting reports, his numbers are going to plummet. Mark my words.
You don’t go to bat over 230 times without twice seeing 4 balls in an at bat, which leads me to believe Mejia is swinging at anything and everything that comes his way, and indeed clobbering a lot of those pitches. However, once pitchers get a scouting report on Mejia, they will just not throw anything to him that he can make good contact on, i.e. pitches shoulder high or a foot outside. When that starts to happen, we’ll see how easy it is for him to learn plate discipline.
As Bob Trumpey would always say on WLW radio:
Let’s make a hot fudge sundae bet !!
I hear you. In good fun, I will take that bet. I agree with the caution only about one thing – at AA, if not A+, pitchers will have better repertoire and command. Were he to be striking out a lot I might agree with you. But he is not, for such power numbers.
But after all of those plate appearances, they have scouting reports. Someone else here might also pipe in, who has seen him. his numbers tell me he is an early count hitter and the organization is waiting until the fall to work on his patience — but his hitting eye is serving him well.
We should recall Meiija was KEY member of that
Android GCL club a few years ago.
No call ups until Cuse and sens drop the curtain
On season.
AFL roster: Bacus, Simms, de los Santos, Nick Lee, Difo, Kieboom, and Ward.

Ty. Cool !
GG when did Nats give jeroloman the pink slip
Now that we see Rice alum Manuel @ AA?
There’s room at Harrisburg for another C because Severino has been called up to DC.
Craig Manuel
Ruiz to Potnats
Another night of Nats fans tossing things @ flat screens ??!

Jeff I am on board with your Randy Knorr support. I ask myself, “WWGD” – What would George (Steinbrenner) do?
David Carpenter moved to 60-day for Severino’s promotion. I had thought there was a chance he was coming back. They’ve still got Span to move to the 60-day, so now there is much less of a chance of a DFA.
Congrats to Severino for making it to The Show, even if just for a taste of it. He may be the only one among the Sept. call-ups who haven’t been there before.
