Roster move: 3B Anderson Franco promoted from GCL Nationals.
I had to laugh at the FIVE unearned runs in three innings at Auburn. I guess there’s a reason they call it rookie ball.
The “kid” who started at Potomac looks pretty good. Call him up!
Meanwhile, Taylor Hill didn’t do much to dissuade me from the thought that he is playing himself into being a DFA candidate. Not sure what has been his issue this year, as he has slid a long way since his MLB call-up.
Welcome up to SS-A, Anderson Franco. Good to see one of our bonus babies movin’ on up the ladder before the season’s ended.
However – 4 errors in your first game? Joba must catch ball…….
If diving at a ball hit right next to you and missing it completely constituted an error, Escobar would have had 4 last night as well! 😀
Did the Nats shutdown Reynaldo Lopez for the year?
He left his start on August 18 early with an apparent leg injury and has not pitched since. If so, a shame as he had gotten his groove back in his last 3 outings:
16 innings 8 H 1 ER 1 BB 21 Ks … Dominating…
Because the Nats kept him in extended Spring Training until mid-May. He only has pitched 99 innings this year. Wonder if he is a candidate for the Arizona Fall League.
Probably so unless…
If I’m remembering correctly, Lopez had some sort of back strain. He is still listed as being on the 7-day DL. He threw 83.1 innings last year. If you keep to the schedule of a 20% increase each season, he’s getting close to it at 99 IP.
