GG. Interesting stat your G man has six steals .
Something to consider amidst these Grissom
Coined auditions : two years ago the Latin kids
Who jumped over auburn to hags was due to
    An empty auburn cupboard.
No longer. No doubt next spring hags may not
Have a gcl kid on April squad unless a kihas abang
Bang spring camp. GM , DeBruna DiNatale ???

  2. Jeff says:

Bryan Serrata former Barrett boy catcher ??

Seeing the stats from Butler’s poor 2nd half reminded me that the Nats will likely have to add a catcher to the 40-man at the beginning of September so they will be able to call a third catcher up to the big club. It could end up being Severino, who I believe would need to be added to the 40-man anyway after the season to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.

If so, somebody will have to get the boot–most likely either Davis, Martin or Goodwin, unless Carpenter ends up being transferred to the 60-day DL.

Karl. Go with your latter guess on Carpenter .

Kudos to David Masters heading off to PotomAc
With his gold glove and range !
More ABs for Kinery and Davidson @ hags !

  5. Jeff says:

    Interesting. David Masters to Potomac.
GG. Could we see our guys move up?
Kelvin G to hags and Franco to auburn ??
    Or Lora to hags mix?

  6. forensicane says:

Masters promotion is temporary, to fill infield shortfall. See Reegie.

  7. forensicane says:
    August 8, 2015 at 11:05 pm

    Next promotions, IMHO: 1) Fedde 2) Marm-Diaz 3) Schrock 4) Lee 5) Turner 6) Voth 7) Mejia

my opinion will be different a week from now, but that takes into account who is at the level above, organizational needs, age of player, amount of time at lower level, and likelihood of Hagerstown or Potomac to have any shot at the postseason.

You still see Turner there on my list. If the Nats feel the season slipping away, they will get Turner up to see if he ignites anything before they fire Matt Williams.

As for the catcher, Severino being added to 40 is a logical move at this point, because why waste a spot on a Dan Butler type?

Of Franco, no room for him to play 3B right now with Kelvin & Melvin. Of KG, maybe. Unless they want to take a final last look at Austin Davidson, and it looks that way. Of Lora, no room unless Mejia or Abreu go to the Pfitz.

Jeff, I partially agree on Hagerstown next year. As for pitchers, the progress of Joan Baez/John Feliz/Stephen Fuentes proved you can’t rush kids. Hitters, I can see Franco playing at Hags next year, as well as TelAugustin or Ramirez, but only of there is organizational shakeout.

    How about Jeff Howell!!!!

You mean Thurston , lovey ?? Lol!
GG yes Lora is behind the potomAc wave
Lead by Abreau and Meiija but abreau
Projects as strong utility guy .
Hum baby ( Roger Craig ) for Austen williams
    Friday night lights out

Yes, Austen Williams has the lead for Org ML pitcher of the year as we come down the stretch. Cannot imagine who would be the hitter in such a drought season but typically a guy they want to turn into trade bait – Alec Keller? DeBruin? Abreu? The pickins are embarrassingly slim.

KG gets NYPL all star! Yorba Linda is stuffing ballot boxes!

Aren’t the org player of the year awards the kiss of (career) death around here?

For hitters, my list would be all half-season guys: 1) Turner, 2) Robles, 3) Stevenson. No offense to the guys who have been around all year, but I can’t name anyone who has produced anywhere close to what that trio has done. I wasn’t that thrilled with Stevenson as a draft pick, but I’m extremely pleased with his pro transition thus far. He would be a real candidate for the fall league had he not already been playing all year because of the college season. I wonder if they would consider sending someone as young as Robles to AZ. The Nats sent Bryce to the fall league right after he turned 18, so it’s been done.

For pitchers, my outside-the-box nomination, considering his age and “non-prospect” status, would be Bleier. It’s hard to argue with his results on the field. I’d probably have Voth at #2, then Austen W.

      1. forensicane says:
        August 9, 2015 at 1:51 pm

Have they ever had a halfseason guy before?

No to Bleier, for the same reason Aaron Laffey was never a serious consideration. He will be a MLFA and that would only accelerate his signing elsewhere for nothing.

Page is not powerless and is in his first year pro college. He is also coming off a broken wrist. Great numbers following a promotion are reason to at least be optimistic for next year. Although at Hagerstown, he is essentially among peers slightly younger. Certainly he has outperformed the higher drafted and higher profile Jeff Gardner.

A few random thoughts on Luke’s points:

–Love the “oldest average batters age” stat for the PNats. Don’t love what it reveals, but it makes the point, namely that there are few worthy bats at mid-level in the organization. Drew Ward is the one real age exception, but he’ll probably have to start at Woodbridge again next year.

–With Bryan Harper’s work against LHB, you do have to remember that he grew up facing the best LHB on the planet! OK, so it was just his little brother. I posted a couple of weeks ago about Bryan. It’s really hard to argue with his success on the field this year. I think he’ll end up getting a big-league shot as a loogy somewhere, at some point. The Nats seem to favor the much harder throwing types like Rivero and Solis, though, although Harper probably throws about as hard as Thornton does now.

–I’m still not sure what to think about Matthew Page. He’s done a good job of putting the bat on the ball, but until he starts showing any power, it’s hard to think of him as having much of a chance even in the upper minors at 1B/corner OF. He needs to hit the weight room this offseason, or something. Admittedly, he’s far from the only one in the organization with power-outage issues.

–Fedde looks legit. I really don’t understand why they didn’t push him on to Hagerstown a few weeks ago, though, as we’ve discussed, particularly considering his age.

–I agree with all that Severino makes a lot more sense on the 40-man than Butler or Lerud. The wait for Severino to figure things out at the plate still continues, though. He’s got one more year to prove that he’s the heir apparent for Ramos, or the Nats are going to start looking elsewhere. I’m actually surprised that they haven’t already brought in (or drafted) another good catching prospect or two. Reetz is still a long, long way on the horizon.

Org hitter 2015? I go with Keyes followed by
    Marmelos .
If Nats lose division to mets. Knorr should be
    Next manager .
I contend that if masters glove can carry him to potomAc .
Then austin Davidson with his 5 HRs and 9 doubles
Should see more off season special attention
    In viera .
GG KG all star word where?
