The RailRiders hit into four double plays but still managed to score five times as they took the series opener from the Chiefs, 5-1. Paolo Espino was charged with all five runs (four earned) as he was riddled for 11 hits over six and 1/3rd innings. He walked none and struck out two. Syracuse was limited to just six hits, with Chris Nelson connecting for both extra-base hits (doubles).

The Senators won for the 12th time in 14 games with 2-1 win in 13 innings against the Flying Squirrels. Austin Voth registered his third straight no-decision with seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, no walks, and striking out seven. Sam Runion got the win in relief with two shutout innings in the 12th and 13th. Drew Vettleson and Brian Goodwin both singled twice and were joined by Isaac Ballou as the only three Harrisburg batters to reach base twice.

The P-Nats rallied for two in the 8th to pull within one at 4-3 but couldn’t push the tying run across in the 9th to lose to Lynchburg, 4-3. Reynaldo Lopez walked five in six innings and gave up three runs on four hits, including a home run, but lost for the fifth time. Potomac was no-hit for four innings and managed just five hits total, with Alec Keller and Drew Ward pacing the offense with a single and a walk apiece.

The Suns put up two-spots in the 5th, 6th, and 9th innings as they doubled up the Blue Claws, 6-3 to split the four-game series. Matt Purke let in a run on four hits and no walks over five innings to earn his second win of the season. Jake Walsh pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his fifth save. Hagerstown pounded out 13 hits, with Jeff Gardner and Bryan Mejia both collecting three hits and an RBI.

Yesterday was the first scheduled off day for the Doubledays, which found them at 7-10 vs. 7-9 last year. Tonight, they return to action with a home-away-home series against Batavia, and then host Staten Island for three games beginning on Saturday.
